Look, I could attempt to explain to you the concept of subjectivity, but I dare not head down that road when you can't even grasp the concept of context. What it boils down to is, you've declared yourself and those you look up to "good", and the likes of me "bad". Then you say you are open to "good change", thereby meaning nothing more than you are interested in becoming even more like you already are (and frankly, that scares me). Now, since it's 3:00 a.m. and I can't get to sleep, I'll actually take the time out to refute your latest load of bull...sorry, horse doo-doo. Golly jee, wouldn't want to offend you, would I? Shucks.
quote:
You're just like Depressedwavemaster.

Oh my God! How did she figure out that I, too, am a man trapped in a woman's body suffering from the perils of a society that doesn't understand me and parents who are acting distant who copes by writing poetry? It's like you've known me my whole life, Jamaica! Roll Eyes
quote:
Your life is a life full of constant depression

Actually, I'm a pretty happy-go-lucky guy. You're the one who sounds like you have a bug stuck up your *** half the time. Oh, I'm sorry, did that statement bother you? Strangely, it didn't bother me. Yet, I know I'll be the one crying myself to sleep tonight. Roll Eyes
quote:
know nothing but being a B***h and making others' lives miserable.

Tee-hee-hee! Jamaica swore! What a bad, bad girl! Seriously, though, the only people whose lives I'm making miserable are those as self-righteous as you. And I've gotta be honest: I'm having a grand old time doing it.
quote:
I have experienced saying bad words but i long realized its not good

Seeing as how you lack a basic understanding of context, I'm willing to bet you actually did attempt to say them to a teacher or parent (in the most offensive way, at that). Curse words are a powerful thing, and should only be used for awesomeness, never idiocy.

Yeah, you are wasting your breath. I am open to change.... good change, not bad. Well, i can see this is going nowhere coz i know you are one of those people who do things that makes the world a dirty and bad place. If thats the case, why are we being taught to be good people when almost all people are doing bad things? Like yourself. You know what? I dont care what you say coz you might say i am not open to change but i am... im open to good change, not bad. Why would i open my heart to something that will make my life miserable anyway? You're just like Depressedwavemaster. Your life is a life full of constant depression and you know nothing but being a B***h and making others' lives miserable.
I have experienced saying bad words but i long realized its not good, however, you deserve the description i just mentioned above. Razz

Thanks! You think you could call some of the people I know up and tell them that? Most don't find it rings true. Frown

Anyway, based on the rest of your thread, I can see that I was wasting my breath about the context thing. I'm clearly not going to be changing your mind, as it's not open to change, but I suggest you take a look over the perfectly valid arguments countless (er, make that 17) people have raised on this thread.

In addition, if you're not looking for honest, open answers to your questions, why do you pose them? You appear to just want to brag about how you're everyone's moral superior. If that is the case, I can cry "****!" until the cows come home, and you'll still be the less respectful of the two of us.

Fine! You know what Aguagon? why dont you just say them everyday if almost everyone thinks its good or nice or ok to say such stuff... Why not say it to your parents in the face, tell it to your teachers while she or he is discussing in front. Say the "F" word to all your classmates including your gf's and bf's.... Since its such a grand thing to say it right? How about telling it to everyone out on the street? Nobody cares about respect anyway... most of the time, somebody always criticizes my posts because its too good or whatever... Well, so what? cause i am good.... not like people out there. Oh, since thats what you are, a bad@ss, well, i guess what im trying to say was pretty pointless. You are and always will be a bad@ss. Toodles! Big Grin

People who use cuss words are people who cant control their mouth, are tactless

As Trench pointed out, it really depends on who is swearing and the context they're using it (sort of like all other words, when you stop to think about it). In certain situations, using cuss words will make you sound like a buffoon with a case of verbal diarhhea. In others, it will make you sound insightful and charming.
quote:
and they probably lack vocabulary words

Oh, I think it's quite the contrary. Those who refuse to even consider using the English language's more colorful words are the ones who lack vocabulary, and the sad thing is, it's a choice they willingly make.
quote:
but who are you to argue anyway

I'm Aguagon. American bad@ss.
quote:
we all have leaders who will act as the guide and leader in a given society and a society have rules which we members have to follow.

By "leaders", would you be referring to the Vice President or the Democratic Presidential nominee's wife? Also, due to this wonderful thing called the Constitution, nobody has to follow rules imposed by those uncomfortable with swearing.
quote:
If you think that society says that saying cuss words is bad, well, i would say, thats just one of the rules and there are a lot of rules, like keeping the environment clean, conserve water, dont cross the street if there are still cars speeding up... if one of society's rules is about not saying of cuss words, why would you disobey it and obey the other rules? Thats just stupid. If you cant obey one simple rule, then i must think you cant obey or wont obey the other rules also.

This is the faultiest logic I've heard since one of Red's posts. To begin with, the societal "rule" that you shouldn't cuss (which really isn't a rule at all, but a suggestion social conservative whackos are spouting at every possible occassion) is a social rule (hence, "societal"). Not crossing the street if there are speeding cars crossing it is a "rule" based on pure logic. Controversial societal rules have been questioned since the beginning of time, and only by questioning them have we freed the slaves, given women the right to vote, etc.

Cuss words might be just words but to me, its really impolite to say it in public. Also, its not really nice to say it just so people would pay attention to you by saying those words. People who use cuss words are people who cant control their mouth, are tactless, and they probably lack vocabulary words.
Yes, society says its bad to say those words... but who are you to argue anyway? We are still governed by society and from what i know of, everyone belongs in a certain society so naturally, we all have leaders who will act as the guide and leader in a given society and a society have rules which we members have to follow.
The people who say cussing is an immature habbit make me chuckle. They themselves are the immature ones. They need to loosen up. A word is a word. A meaning is a meaning. Sometimes it is essential to swear to get the point across. Note: before anyone hounds me, I said sometimes.
Certain words are classified as cuss words that make no sense. For example ****. **** is known as an awful word. Terrible, horrid, and abusive!. I disagree. The word **** is a beautiful word. The nature of the women is fascinating to me. I will dance on roof tops yelling **** ***** ******* ****er **** damn mother ****er anytime I'd like. Will people give a damn? Yes, they will. What will be the response they will get? Grow up and get over it. Swearing in general does not make you sound uneducated by any means. If you use it in the wrong direction, yes, it will make you sound like an ape. Society teaches you that swearing is bad, well screw society. Society blows. (this one anywase)

Wow, people get so upset over nothing.

Most people don't even know how to use curse words. They exist for a reason, they are meant to be used, but I think people should learn about when and how to use them. They're "extreme" because they have more emphasis, more feeling.

Saying stuff like "**** you" all the time just steals the meaning and importance of the word when i REALLY want to say "**** you" to someone.

But that+s just how I use them.

Depressedwavemaster asking me why i have a heart for a picture. Well, thats because i CARE. Heart means love.

Hence, the problem. You care way too much. You're all worried about our immortal souls getting condemned to hell. Just take a few deep breaths, get a bowl of popcorn, and watch some South Park. It's good for you.
quote:
I am not like you, people who make fun of what i write just because i happen to be good.

You can't just declare yourself good. Everything is subjective. It all goes back to the argument of seeking security in religion, and believing that if you don't do things like cuss, you're going to get some kind of eternal reward, or, at the very least, be our moral superiors.
quote:
I am not like others who just go and join the crowd coz they happen to be in that environment or they want to express themseves.

You're essentially saying that because you refuse to be an anti-conformist, you're not conforming. That's an admirable and true statement, but not for reasons you can fathom, and certainly not in the context you're using it in. In this context, it's just hypocritical.
quote:
Whats the point of expressing yourself using dirty language? In fact, it will just make you a head-turner with people whispering al around you trying to decide if you just came out from a mental hospital or some typical trashy teen who just stays in school for the attendance.

If it weren't for people like you, nobody would look at a teen with colorful language that way. Just food for thought.

So, what if i posted this topic??? I want to make a difference. How can people here, in YN ever post some topic about making a difference ( i have seen some) when you dont even show it? You just go and follow them coz you think its ok. Well, thats just wrong.

I can't speak for YN at large, but most of us are more interested in tackling the actual problems in the world, such as homelessness, terrorism, racism, religious fundamentalism, President Bush, etc. Dirty words aren't on that list because most of (*gasp*) don't really care about them.

loosen up! you are so ****** uptight about everything! People swear. Teens swear. It is a form of expression and just b/c you don't like it and are going to whine about it doesn't mean we are going to stop. if you don't like swearing then you don't have to swear. But as for me, the fact that you whine about it like a little girl makes me wanna swear more just to p!ss you off. Big Grin have a nice day.

As i read the posts written here, i told myself, i DONT CARE whether you think this is funny or not. Iceland said, she looked at the name of the one who created this post and she said that she was going to have some fun... Well, sure, laugh till you drop, just make fun of me coz you know what? I dont think this is funny at all. Sure, i have said some dirty words when i was in highschool but now, i realized its bad and i avoid saying it. Maybe you think this is all so annoying, and Depressedwavemaster asking me why i have a heart for a picture. Well, thats because i CARE. Heart means love. I am not like you, people who make fun of what i write just because i happen to be good. Well, i happen to be a good person coz i dont want to join the bandwagon with all you guys overloading the wagon trying to express yourselves using dirty language. I am special, yes. I am good too and thats just me. I am not like others who just go and join the crowd coz they happen to be in that environment or they want to express themseves.

Haha. I wasn't swearing. The letter i is not the same as the letter ¡. Look at that box of censoring though, it makes a cool wavy pattern.

Lol, dwm that's hilarious.

i tend to not respect people who curse when they're trying to make an important statement about serious issues. i mean, if you have the intelligence to speak out for what you believe in, i'm sure you can find a strong word in your vast mental dictionary to express your anger; pain; etc. i don't blame people who cuss, though. some people just grow up in that kind of environment where they think the only way to be heard is to cuss out in front of powerful figures.

i spent the summer volunteering down at the mayor's office in city hall & to tell you the truth, they don't take vulgar speaking protesters too seriously.
