Aww, Lissa, why did you delete that ? Heh. Joking. ICE means the best, honest. Jamaica, why do you have a heart for a picture? You should have some sort of stupid shining cross or a pent with an X through it or a javelin being thrown through the leading person in the gay-pride parade. Yes, I'll find you one of those.

Lol, I looked at the name of the topic and the person who created it and I knew dwm was gonna have some fun. But everyone else did too. Awwwwww. Cuuuuute...
Jamaica I don't swear much, but you gotta realize when people do it's because they're releasing their feelings about something. Like I AM SO SICK OF THIS ****! It gets a lot more attention and gives your statement more strength and feeling than say, I DON'T LIKE THIS. But, lol, swearing implies no values? That's sooo untrue and stupid and for that I'll give you this:
When we had a discussion on it in one of my classes (The book being Catcher in the Rye, of course. Holden being infamous for "cursing".), and we decided that the curse words and slang were ways to seperate oneself from their parents generation and to forge their own way. It's a way of pushing yourself off and making your own way in some sense. But honestly, they're just words. And words don't have an affect unless you make them have an affect, which is why "*******" is worse than "bugger brain."
I said "How 'bout a Revolution?" And he said "Right"
The day words become filth to you is the day that your self esteem is way to low. This "filth" is only filth because you believe it to be filth just except it and I promise you wont go to hell for listening to it
Until the day The dream of lasting peace, world citizenship Rule of international morality Will remain in but a fleeting illusion To be pursued, but never attained Now everywhere is war, war-Bob Nesta Marley
Get over it, the world is full of "dirty" things and the "naughty" words you hear/read are only a small taste of all the filth in the world. If you can't handle this then you will never make it in the real world. Grow up and stop being so f*ckin naive.

You are so incoherent.
quote: I just hope teens realize its really a bad influence to children and to oters as well.
You're ******* right, *****. Those ****ing teenage *******s need to ****ing realize that those ******* otters really ****ing look up to them, so it would be really ****ing appreciated if you ******* ****s and *****es could ****ing realize that.
When the president talks to god are the conversations brief or long? Does he ask to rape our women's rights and send more farm kids off to die? Does God suggest an oil hike when the president talks to god?
You know, I'm pretty sure I covered my stance on this pretty well in that peom post of yours, jamaica. "Dirty words", in my opinion, are just like any words, except more extreme. I personally don't go throwing them around every second, but I will not hesitate to use them if the situation calls for it. Anyway, for more on that stuff, read my post in your poems thread. Now, on to what you said specifically in this thread:
quote: To me, it sounds disrespectful and its as if people who use those words, especially teens have no regard for others at all, whether they might have offended others or not.
I think some people are using them directly to offend, while others are using them more to get their point across. However, I would like to point out that the process of offending takes two people. In other words, their efforts at offending you won't work if you stop being offended.
quote: And it also implies they have no values.
No, it just implies they don't have your values. Big difference.
quote: Using dirty language is one thing that makes people misunderstand each other.
See, I'm really inclined to disagree with this. Dirty words are usually very direct and unmistakable in their meaning. For instance, if you were to tell someone you hated that you "didn't think very highly of them", they might leave confused as to just how little you liked them. However, if you phrased it, "I think you're a ****ing moron", it would get your point across much more clearly.
quote: I just hope teens realize its really a bad influence to children and to oters as well.
How is it a bad influence? These words by themselves have no power; their power is given to them by the "taboo" status we place on them. Ironically, if you casually said "****" in front of a kid, he would be a lot less prone to use the word than if you told him never to say "****". And, if our society as a whole stopped getting offended by these words, we wouldn't have people saying them just to be disrespectful or rebellious.
Not that I'm against disrespect or rebellion.
And then, as the books were told, Fina replied: "A can of worms, my dear friend? What has this to do with reason?"
