In todays society there is alot of juding going on. People are sterotyped everyday and make fun of because of what their label is. Gothic, emo, punk, skater, prep, jock, ect. Is that fair to the people? Sure some enjoy their labels but what about those who dont want one? Is it right to make fun of someone just because they are gothic and cutter and have problems? Is it right to hate someone because they are a jock or cheerleader? No its not. So why in our society do we have these labels and teasing and making fun of others for their apperances not the person inside? I know that Ive been labelled gothic and emo just because I wear black alot but the only reason I do is because thats the color I feel comfortable in. So I get stares in the hallways and teachers dont think I am that smart but I get straight A's and am very intelligent. So the point of this is why do we do this and is it fair? I am curious to your reactions and thoughts on this subject. I think its wrong personally.

I do think that it is wrong to label other people. I think that labels mainly come from appearance, and people apply labels to others when they don't take the time to actually get to know who they are. I mean, just because you look a certain way doesn't mean that you automatically act and feel according to that stereotype. We are all people, and we are all unique, so we can't fit perfectly into little boxes. However, kids tend to judge other kids based on their labels. People feel like they have to belong to a certain group to fit in. A label may say what you look like, but I don't think it says who you are.
