Marx WAS right about somethings. stuggle and war have helped our race move to the state it is in. whats that thing about invention comming from nessesity...? i would like to see peace but that just wont happen... it's not that easy. no not everyone wants peace as strange as that may seem. and war is too often shown as the answer to the worlds quarrels over land and ideas.
"i learned vilolence is the answer from the media?" "Oh from violent cartoons?" "no, from bush"

oh - and, it's not that ppl may not want peace...i mean everyone does, i think. but it may just take a while to get there. and, remember this - there are many differnt definitions to peace to many different ppl. Sounds crazy? Trust me, it's sort of true. So true that the day world peace hits me i won't know what to expect lol

overall, i think that it really depends on the situation, but sometimes, we have to make war w/ the world or among our personal lives before we reach peace.

The problem is there will never going to be complete peace, till we are with God. I wish tehre was but war is part of sin, and we sin all the time, never will this eartly place have complete complete peace!

True enough Sh, but considering the complete repression of the Taliban and the totalitarianism and squandering of resources of Saddam Hussein those two countries couldn't have done much worse. It is true that Afghanistan is still very much a third world country, but now with the elimination of the Taliban at least it has at least some hope. Two countries under a possibly imperialist United States (if that is the unlikely case) is definitely preferable to what was going on prior to our occupation. I could go on about how unprofitable it would be now for the imagined imperialism of the United States to actually take place, but really the war is over so what would be the point? I'm much more concerned about the rebuilding of Iraq right now, if we fail to make Iraq a stable country we will have lost the war. It would be a shame to oust Saddam only to create a new theocracy, or to build a democracy only to see it turn to anarchy.

I agree with VEGAnqueen. I disagree with Justice conservatism. quote: At least temporarily now it appears the Iraqis and Afghanis have an economic and political future, even at the price of war. What would those two unfortunate countries have had without a war?
First of all, it least in Afganistan, the government is pretty much just small, individual cities. The Afghanis don't have any natural resources except marajuana, which is an illeagal, and they now have a bunch of dead people and barely any technology. Is that what you mean by stable economics?

There is also no peace when a strong government, takes over the natural resources of smaller countries, under the guise of trying to boost their economy. Peace also doesn't exist when a domminate country goes to war for all of the wrong reasons with a weaker country.

What do you call "peace"? There is no peace in terrorist-supporting nations, or dictatorships, or their neighbors. When there is peace in fanatical nations like Iran, Iraq, Nazi Germany, the USSR and others it is the peace of the grave and the order of a police state. Don't confuse "warmongering" with defense of one's country or the elimination of evil and tyrannical men, or "peace" with appeasement or ignoring of other countries. I like peace as much as anyone even with my militarist views, but an unjust "peace" is every bit as bad as an unjust war. At least temporarily now it appears the Iraqis and Afghanis have an economic and political future, even at the price of war. What would those two unfortunate countries have had without a war?
