If someone murders a person, why shouldn't we put them to death? I'm all for the death penalty and I think that we're being to nice by giving lethal injections. We need to go back to the electric chair!!!!

Wow, can you say emotive language? Because I can, and thats a serious debate fallacy that detracts from any strength in your argument.

Think to yourself, would I be willing to give the leathel injection to Timothy McVeigh? Of course I would, and the fact that I'm willing to do that, bring out the killer in myself, makes me think twice about the wiseness of doing so.

Also, maybe revenge matters to you. But ultimetely it accomplishes nothing. Its meaningless, nothing but an unhealthy emotional indulgence. Whats important is, does the Death Penalty deter? Is killing that immate worthwhile? I say, no. Once again, think to yourself, why do we kill people, who kill people, to show people that killing people is wrong? The Death Penalty is institution is against the advancement of society.

I assume you have heard of a program called scared straight? If not it is a program where they take bad kids to spend some time with prison inmates. The inmates give the kids all they have with verbal abuse and what it is really like to be in a prison. Most kids come out of there thinking twice about wanting to do crimes.

Out of all the gang members I know, about 95% of them said if they had to sit there and watch their boys get executed, it would be a lasting image in their mind. It is something that would run through their minds each and everytime they did something that might get them sent upstate. When you shoot at people, they might retaliate, you may get shot, but if you get the death penalty...you know you are going to die. It isn't as fun anymore....

If you are talking about someone like Charles Manson....you are right...they have no value for their own life, nor anyone elses. You can debate that, but if they have no value....I have no value for them.

Call it revenge...call it whatever, but the person who brutally kills my family will die, by the courts or by my hand. Now I will go to jail, my life is ruined, the animals life is ruined, my families lives are ruined, and the animals family life is also ruined. If you had done the right thing and put them to death....only half as many peoples lives would be ruined.....

I think this world is full of sick *******s who want to keep ****ing scum alive, you all are twisted mother****ers for wanting to keep people like Dahmer alive. And that is how I feel...and lets see how you feel when someone like Dahmer sucks your moms brain through her ear, has sex with her and then grills her *** for dinner. Never matters till it's you, well time to stop thinking about yourselves....other people are the ones suffering.

Also, the Death Penalty is not a deterrent. And that is by far its main duty. Its effect on deterring criminals is simply nonexistant. The state of California found that after executions, the murder rate would actually go up. And there's a reason for this. Someone (i.e. a potentail killer) who is willing to kill, is not someone who would have a realistic approach to their own life, and they would not place much value on their own.

Also, for the argument that the Death Penalty brings closure to victims, well thats revenge, and thats just sick.

having to live a dull and tedious life is far worse a punishment than the release of death. (In my beleif system, i realize yours are a little different). i dont understand what gives you the right to kill someone, even if they've killed another, as much as i'd like to see it sometimes.
