I think you should change your nickname fairplayer!
because your not realy a fairplayer!
I tried to let it go but people like you get to me!
I mean, how would YOU feel if you were blown up in the middle of the street?
if your mom, dad, brother, sister, friend were one of the 23+ who died today in the streets of israel?
Israeli soldiers tell palestinians who are beleived to be terrorists "get out of your house"
they check them before they leave there home because some of them go and blow themselves up!
and kill innocent people!
KIDS! who dont even understand what's going on!
I dont feel hatred for all palestinians and its to bad that you feel that way towards all jews because i dont feel that way towards you!well maybe you...but not your people.
I have many palestinian friends and even though we both have our beliefes, we keep them to ourselves!
Because the truth is that this fight will never end!
stop fighting about it and try to focus on PEACE!

Now Israel does her best by every possible means to encourage & even enforce jews from all over the world to settle in palestine instead of the native arab inhabitants who are there since thousands of years, but also deprived them from the essentials of decent in ther land!!

Imagine one morning a solider knocks on your door and says "get out or else we'll demolish it over your heads" & soon you find your family in the street, that if you are lucky if they don't bomb your house with a F16 .
then they build another settlement with all the luxeries of life for a little number of russians with swimming pools, while the native palestinians are deprived of enough water to drink.

right to most of the middle east including Israel & palestine, or else the muslims will say that palestine is their land as said in the Quran

The conflict is not a religious one ,although the jews are tring hard to convince us it is; so that christians would support them .

But the truth is a frank occupation of land confirmed by dozens of U.N resolutions ,all are being refused by Israel .
Any way ,some one of the noisemakers said that "without jews there wouldn't have been no jesus or God" If she forgot I will remind her that the jews are directly responsible for his killing.

Well, there will be a peace treaty signed between Israel and the European Union.

In the future, of course.

Perhaps, maybe, who knows, but the Palestinians will get their own "state."

Anyway, the future of Israel, the history of Israel - you can always find out what's going to happen by reading the world's best History book.

The Bible tells what will happen.

The U.N. resolution making Israel a state in 1948 is in the Bible (remember, the Book was written thousands of years ago).

But yup, I think it was Girls who said this, and I totally agree.

Our foreign policy is the one to blame mostly for a lot of countries' problems.

It's time to bring every single one of our soldiers home, stop sending money, aid and ammo to the countries, and just protect what we have here.

I understand that everyone is very angry about whats going on in the middle east and so am i and i know a lot of you would like to give us history lessons on what happened in the past to make their point clear. but i think now it's time to focus on what is going to happen or could happen in the future...this discussion isn't getting us anywhere or giving us a better understanding of what is going on..i think we should start posting up ideas on how we can help and solve this conflict rather than fight and bicker with one another. lets start using our thinking skills on this one...just an idea

Hm. Where do I start?

I think for a lot of people it is about religion. I wish I knew more about this conflict. It's so sad - especially the suicide bombings because they really aren't making a difference except for continuing the cycle of violence; someone from the one country bombs the other, so the other bombs the first, and back and forth. Someone's just got to stop. But I doubt that will happen; if you were fighting for something, you wouldn't want to just stop - that would feel like losing.

I don't think either side is "wrong." Everyone has different opinions - as though these message boards didn't make that obvious enough...!

Isn't it sad? America has such terrible foreign policy. War, for heaven's sake, as though that will solve our problems? But in a way it is too late to resolve conflicts we have with the middle east in other ways... perhaps? I have to admit, I am incurably a pacifist. I could never agree to any war. There was a better solution - they hate us, I think, out of ignorance. And then again with some real reason. But there are things we could have done better, to improve foreign opinion of ourselves. And then, probably, we wouldn't be faced with eminent war.

I was also shocked when i saw palestinians cheering on the news after september 11th!
God how disgusting is that? Not only do they hate Israeli's but also Americains.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

America funds Israel.

I was horrified when I saw that footage too. But that's probably why they hate the States so much. Generally I think they're a very hate-fuelled people.

I would just like to say unless you have been there you don't know what it's like for either side. I know lately many jews are scared to walk down the streets there and thats absoulutley understandable , but the palestinians are aslo scared. Not every palestinaian is a suiside bomber, almost all of them aren't; almost all of them are like you and me; almost all of them don't hate america; almost all of them want peace. The palestinans living conditions are horrible compared to the isralis. I think you guys should look at it from both sides, and know that paleistinains aren't "a very hate-fuelled people."

Oh, and please realize that palestineian-americans and arab-americans and americans that are muslim aren't terrists either and that there were arabs and muslims in the towers and the pentagon.

I do understand grammer, you did put a period there.
Quote: "then the conflict is obviously not only about land (but about religion, too). "
I disagree.
'Nuff said.

As for Joey: The conflict as we know it has only been going on since the influx of Jewish refugees in the early 20th century.
Muslims and Jews coexisted several times throughout history, ofen enven under a sectarian government, without incident.
You said yourself: "The focal point of this conflict can be summed up in one word: land."
Your religion says you take a ceratin side, I understand that. But in a world that doesn't follow on religion we must look to other things.

quote:
"Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: All the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever." - Genesis 13:14-15

This could range anywhere from a few miles to the entire world depending on your interpretation or the literal rage of visibility in that spot.

Ya know what, Dante? Perhaps in being familiar with basic English grammar, you would observe the fact that my "absurd claim" was not actually a claim -claims are followed by declarative punctuation, such as a period or exclamation point- but in reality a question, hence the question mark. Oh- and also maybe the first sentence of my post could have tipped you off to that idea too- "i have a couple of q's". You could do us all a big favor and take the time to really try to follow the point of a post instead of making a nasty comment, especially when you completely misunderstand the situation.

Sorry for the HUGE quote...lol but i TOTALY AGREE with him and i have never heard anything more true!

quote:
Image, tell me where you get this information; who was the leader of the Palestinian government? When was this country founded? How long has this country existed?

Fairplayer, you're wrong.

The UN voted November 29, 1947 to "declare the establishment of a Jewish State in Eretz Israel, being known as the State of Israel."

That was the date of the actual vote.

Israel didn't become a full-fledged country until 1948.

But it wasn't a 50/50 deal, not a 40/60 compromise with the Palestinians, but a FULL Jewish state. I do not know where you get your biased information from, but the UN formally established a FULL Jewish state, with its own government, its own army, its own flag, etc.

There will millions of Jews living in and around Europe, because a lot of them had been run out from their God-given homeland.

Since the time of the UN vote, Bible prophecy has been fulfilling - Jews are coming back in record numbers to their homeland.

And as a Christian, it is my duty to fully support Jewish people, their country and their defense.

In fact, ALL Christians owe their gratitude to the Jews; for without Jews, there would be no God or Jesus.

Hmm, I personally believe the entire conflict is solely about religion.

The Jews were given the land by God.

Mohemmed, in 70 A.D., militarily taught his new religion throughout the Middle East after Mecca rejected Muslim teachings.

By 634 A.D., Mohammed's army had advanced south of the Sea of Galilee and within a year had over-run Jerusalem.

The Crusaders recaptured the city in 1099; in 1516, the Holy Land was taken over by the Marmalukes and became a part of the Turkish empire.

It's been a see-saw battle ever since; God promised the Jews, however, that they would reclaim what was rightfully theirs.

It will happen and I'll be rooting for them (if I'm still alive)!

Rocker, Jews came before Christians; that's why Jews are Jews and Christians are Christians - many Jews don't believe that God sent a Son named Jesus.

Jews go by the Torah, or the Old Testament; Christians go by the entire Bible, with the New Testament - the NT starts with Jesus' birth - hence, Christians.

But ...they're both the same guy/God. And like the promise to restore Israel to the Jews, Jesus says the Jews will come to know the Son near the End.

That's a rather absurd claim. Palestinians ae mostly Muslim so it's about religion? Huh? That is such a non-sequiter. Like: since elephants are grey it'll rain in Djbouti.

The religious aspect of this dispute is very much overrated.

It's more or less the basic school room dispute over the kid who got out of line and now wants his spot back. Or rather, he takes the spot back by force and the other kid gets mad.

It is essentially that infantile. Except now these kids have guns and car bombs and nuclear weapons; they kill for their spot.

I haven't really been following the debate, but:

I believe the issue revolves around the land Israel occupied in the 1967 war, not its establishment as state. But would they stop fighting. Well, if you'll excuse the phrase, God only knows. As with all things in the world (and the Middle East particularly), it's complex. Religious-crusader types have taken over the conflict to a large degree on both sides, unfortunately, turning the conflict into a religious one rather than a temporal one. And of course, that's the sticky widget that's got everyone's panties in a bunch. :/ It wasn't originally about religion (not much, anyhow), but nowadays, the debate is far too often framed in those terms.

ok, i just had a couple q's-- first of all: if Israel moved out of the extra land they assumed after the 1948 resolution, do you think the two nations would end the fighting? and also: the majority of palestinians are muslim, right? then the conflict is obviously not only about land (but about religion, too). And i definitely don't support the way things are going (ie violence), as i'm sure no one does (!) but i do believe (as a Christian) that God gave the land to Israel. i don't think the Palestinians should be kicked out or anything like that, but... God's behind Israel. Also, penmagic made a good point in her post (with the history of it etc). (And like rockrgirl228 said, it's the other way around-w/o God there's no Jews...but God was not invented by man) smile

Without Jews there would be no God? Don't you mean that the other way around? Or are you finally coming around to the idea that God was invented by man? wink

UN Security Council Res. 181 On the Partition of Palestine and Future Government

History of the Palestinean Question

It seems as though there has never been forward progress on this issue since WWI. Or at least that any forward progress was at the end of much backward progress or triggered the same.

It was big news over half a year ago when the and the rest of the SC agreed to the vision of an independent Palestinean state. But that was what was suppsed to happen in 1947.

Not to say that the process is hopeless, but short of getting Israel to abide by the international laws it agreed to in the first place I don't see what point there is to superficial agreements. Like saying you're going to win the 100m dash when you start on the other side of the track. Until there is an even starting point, a level playing field someone is goign to feel shafted and have no reason to negotiate.

A person with nothing more to lose can be the most dangerous person alive.

Fairplayer,
right on with the point that the Israelis have land that was not given to them by the UN. However, they did not make the first aggression to seize that land. the problem is that after the British pulled out, the Israelis were sitting ducks, with their only defense being arms that they were able to smuggle in. The Arab League, along with the Palestinians, immedietly moved in to try to seize Jerusalem and the rest of Israel. The Israeli defense was worthy of mention in the Bible; they not only kept the entire Arab world at bay, but actually pushed forward and gained land (including the well-known West Bank)before the Arabs cried uncle.

personally, i do not beleive that land gained during a war that Israel did not want or start, does not count as being illegally gained. "all is fair in lobve and war" If it is illegal, then America is in bad shape. most of our nation was gained from other countries in battle. in fact, our nation itself was taken from the British during the revolution. is our nation illegal then? should we give our land back to england? no? then let Israel keep the West Bank!

Also, though the Israelis were given a large amount of land when they became a nation, they were given the land that nobody wanted: swampland, desert, etc. Through hard work and intelliegence, they made that land a productive a fertile as the good land given to the Palestinians. And they were willing and able to share their knowledge with their Arab neighbors.

For more info on how Israel was formed and survived, I would once again recomend O Jerusalem!. It is excellent, and does a fabulous job of also showing the rarely seen Arab side of the story. If you don't know what the Haganah is, then you need to read the book.

History does repeat itself. watch the news to today. Palestinians kill and push Israel to breaking point (and the world says nothing), then, when Israel snaps and rightfully attacks her enemies, the Palestinians run and hide behind the UN. Israel withdraws and the cycle starts over.

Disclaimer: I base most of my logical thinking 'bout the Middle East on the fact that "Arab" is not religion; it is a race. you can be an Arab and a Jew. the religious conflict in the Middle East is Jews versus Muslims versus Christians. However, militarily the conflict is between Israel and the "Arab countries" + Palestinians. does anyone know diffently? if so, i would grateful for another opinion.
