Thanksgiving isn't the French and Indian War, people. The Puritans didn't go slaughter the Indians for game. During the peak of the war, it was every man for himself, so the Native Americans were equally at fault, and they had incentives from the French.

People celebrate Thanksgiving because it sparked the survival of one of the first American colonies.

That's about it.

We have eel at Thanksgiving and no turkey (not much anyways)...I think that's as close as we come to the actual Thanksgiving. But if you like the kindergarten version, we all give thanks, and my littlest cousins dress up with the paperbag Indian costumes.

The Puritans who settled at Plymouth Rock actually had very friendly relations with the surrounding Indians. It was not a 'conqueror encounter'. Both groups established treaties and treated eachother very well. Just because many Europeans clashed with Indians does not mean that all of them were evil, murdering tricksters. Don't make up stuff.

I do not celebrate the American Thanksgiving. And if I was in America, I wouldn't.
I would not clebrate the rape and destruction of an entire race, becuase the blankets and food the pilgrims gave the Native Americans were full of small pox.

Yeah, every Thanksgiving, I prohibit dancing, silence my women, burn some witches, and then fire wildly into the surprised faces of my dinner guests. Then, I pick out the ones who survived and send them to the Midwest.
