I have heard about some of the people who made the ballot to run for California governors, and I find it unbelievable that some of these people are even being allowed to run. Shouldn’t these people, be required to know certain things? Shouldn’t they all take some kind of tests before approved for running? And shouldn’t their pasts be looked into a little more closely? I think that this whole election is just a big joke really. There are only about two or three candidates it seems in this election, who would actually be worth voting for. What do you guys think? Especially you guys who live here in California.

quote: 200+ people running!
I believe it's around 156. I really like the new alphabet that they're using for the ballots. ("R. It's the new A.")

The California election is messed up, especially since California just had a gubernatorial election three months ago! If voters wanted to recall the governor, why didn't they just do it then?
However, I don't agree with making candidates take tests because in a democracy, everyone should be able to run for public office. Participating in government is a constitutional right, and people don't participate in government as much as they should. Making people take tests would send the message that only certain people are allowed to participate in the government, and this isn't true. America is a land of equal opporutnity. Everyone, including the porn stars and 100 year old ladies, should have the right to run for public office.
But that doesn't mean the California election is a good thing...it's not! It's costing the state a bundle, and in the end, none of the budget problems will be solved and California will only be deeper in debt. From what I've seen, I don't think the candidates even realize what they're getting themselves into...being governor is a big job with a lot of responsibility and a lot of governors inherit problems from their predecessors and are not entirely to blame. While some of the past governors haven't been the greatest, I honestly don't believe any of these candidates will be any better. I really hope the people of California don't recall the governor.
