Question:
Everybody has an opinion, and nearly everybody wants others to have that same opinion. So when newscasters and TV/Movie stars and the like inform or entertain their audience, how much of their opinions (maybe about enviromental issues, abortion, premarital sex, politics, the "war on terrorism", etc.) are they trying, maybe not obviously, to get across to the possibly impressionable viewers? Are some slanting the truth at all about issues to try to get people to think the way they do?

Choices:
The media basically as a whole is objective and tries to present facts as they are
Most are objective but a few try to push stuff on people.
A good portion, maybe half, of the media try to present their views, and maybe aren't quite fair.
Most of the media try to slant things their way and aren't really fair at all.
Pretty much all of the media only presents their take on things and likes to talk really only about things that support their views

Ok, yes, some parts of the media do lie. Movie buisness, ect. Sure, the media does push opinions on people by lying. (look at comercials) But, everybody "shows" their opinion. And I do think that the media does push or tries to convert people, and even if it means by lying. Even people outside in the media, that's how we get people to "follow" or agree with us.

Oh, sure. My personal opinion is that the media always presents their opinions. By posting this poll I wanted to stimulate discussion on whether the media purposefully tries to win over "converts" to their "beliefs" by less than couth means (i.e., lying)

Of course. The media always tries to push opinions on people. That's what they do. Even if they mean to or not. Even the news pushes opinions on people. Even though their only reporting whats going on. Everything is like that. (maybe not everything) I'm even pushing opinions on you right now. That's just the way the world works. Sorry if I didn't answer you. I tried.
