Not all people who own firearms are immature, ignorant, trigger happy, nor do all who own firearms feel power and authority because they own a firearm.

My dad owns quite a few guns. Out of his 5 daughters, four of us have gone through a hunters education/gun safety course. 2 of us currently hunt with Dad (myself and my oldest sister). Yet, for all of that, you cannot consider any of us immature, ignorant, etc. We treat guns with the respect they deserve: that if handled improperly, an unintentional loss of life may occur. And that, is something we would have to live with our entire lives.

Frankly, I'd be more worried about a world without guns than a world with.

I don't exactly like guns but they're here and I can't do much about it (not by myself)! I don't like the point that they can and do help with the deaths of innocent people- I mean it's not the guns fault for going off! BUt I think that guns are now in imature/ignorant peoples hands that think that having a gun makes u powerful and makes them feel like they have athority! I don't understand what it triggers off in the peoples head that makes them just go gun happy, but...

No brooke, read the post properly before you start making snide (immature, untrue, and witless) comments about me, I stated, no matter how many times you prove them wrong,most anti-gunners are so dumb they will disagree and repeat something like "if guns are banned then criminals wont be able to kill people with them" And yes brooke, I do have plenty of friends and thats not because a lot of people dont disagree with me, you obviously made that sarcastic comment because you were proven wrong and became defensive, you are entitled to your views....even if they are rediculous.

So people who disagree with you are dumb? You must have lots of friends.

Typical armed thug, whether with knives, chains, or firearms, and who would have firearms regardless of legislation that would strip the people of their defense. You really dont seem to get it.

If more people defend themselves with guns than are accosted by people with guns, who are they defending themselves from? The tooth fairy? The Easter bunny?

1.Criminals Break Laws
2.Law abiding citizens abide by laws
3.Making firearms illegal would disarm law abiding citizens and not affect criminals
--Cases in point include britain and australia, where, when firearms for private use were banned, crime rates in the areas of home invasion, etc, spiked
--Case in point #2: Drugs are illegal, but one can get ahold of the adulterant of ones choice at streetcorners worldwide

B.
1.There are VERY FEW firearms accidents
2.Most of the 'children' cited in gun death reports (children being defined by those reports as anyone under 21) were gang members and other criminals busy killing each other, and who would kill each other with or without firearms, its illegal either way and the law is NOT a detterent
3.Firearms are the most effective home and self defense weapons practically useable and available.
4.There are (according to the study most widely acknowledged, although likely lower than the actual number) approximately 2.5 million instances of firearms used for defense anually in the US. Would you rather leave these people defensless and dead for the sake of your emotions and fear ?

In summary:
1.Criminals will break laws, therefore only law abiding citizens are harmed by gun control laws.
2.An enormous amount more people defend themselves with firearms than are accosted with one.
