Is seperation of church and state a good idea?
I think it's a great idea. I think It dangerous to allow religion which "beats the living with the bones of the dead" to control your government. It leads to too many problems (religious persecution, intolerance, etc.) What's your view?

you know what i hate about YN boards sometimes? if anyone brings up any topic or anyone puts something in a wrong category we get people acting all pissy about it. oh big deal someone wants to talk about an old topic who cares? if it bothers you so much then dont read it. just because you've seen it before doesn't mean we have to listen to you and not talk about it.

gawd this is why I left yn before. ppl can be such buffoons about stuff. like people who think they're so high and mighty simply because they have a large number of posts next to their name.

I agree...wat was this nation founded on? Why did the pilgroms come over here? For reigious FREEDOM...the state shouldn't be allowed to tell us where we can and cannot pray...while you really can pray anywhere...but you should be allowed to pray out loud if you want to. Why should Christians have to be quiet about their beliefs...but lets say Gothic kids are allowed to come in dressed all in black and can talk to others about wat they believe?

Ok this bothers me a bit. People say they want a separation of chirch and state. yet they want the government to impose rules against religion. the 2 ideas are totally contradictory of each other . seperation of church and state means the gov. shall not impose rules against religion and religion shall not rule the government. what are we going to do? get rid of everything that offends somene?. what will we have left. ..... I hear the term wheelchair is offensive to some now. should we get rid of wheelchairs in hopes that the problem of handicapped people will go away? yeah i said it handicapped. christmas? holloween? easter? birthdays? mondays, tuesdays? general freedom itself irritates some shall we get rid of that?

They can't Wink

Christians are constantly complaining that they cannot pray <insert random place here> but in reality they can ultimately pray whenever they want, wherever they want.. but the prayer I'm referring to is preaching; spreading the "word" or gospel, if you will, which bugs the hell out of me.

And since people are so evil, I'm sure churches will not be able to "preach" anymore, heh. But hey, you can always pray, right?

Of course church and state should be separated.

People have little to no freedoms in theocratic governments.

i think it's good since america was supposed to be a place of freedom of religion, the separation is nessisary to ensure that the nation isn't taken over by some religious extremist. i also like the freedom in brings in various other ways like in school.
