What happens to the seals? If they are used for food an clothing, this seams like a reasonable way to let the fish populations regrow. As long as the seals don't fall below the point at which they would die naturally faster than they reproduce, leading to death. Then when fish populations are optimum again the seal clubbing could be ended. It's certainly not in the best interests of the seals to starve because there aren't enough fish for them to eat. On the other hand, if the bodies aren't used for any purpose, it would be better to try introducing natural predators (preferably animals that won't also feed on the fish they're trying to replenish!)

I am so excited Canada has just changed its clocks from the 30 hour clock to the 24 hour clock to be like the Americans.

Ok… I see your point, even though I feel very strongly about animal rights.
How about re-introducing some predators? Would that be a plausible solution? Or… castration! That would keep the population down. …Not sure of the logistics of castrating a seal though…
In any case, if they must be culled, surely there's a more humane method than clubbing them to death?

Several provinces are in recetion because of the lack of fish and other economic resources. The Saskatchewan seal hunt could potentially help our economy damaged by BSE, overfishing and low international prices.

Those animals have been hunted down to the point where they cannot keep the seal population down.

As a point the seals don't have any natural predator anymore so shouldn't they be killed.

Seriously people, Desert is fine. He thinks he's Christian, and he always thinks he makes intelligent comments. I mean, I bet it god existed, he'd strike Desert down in a matter of seconds. Let him enjoy wallowing in his stupidity before someone like me is close enough to murder him.
He'll be roasting in Hell right along side of Hitler and, hopefully soon, Castro.
