I was just wondering if any of you feel as though the entertainment industry has a strong effect on our society and especially the young people.
Everyone you look directors are using violence as a way to "spice up" their movies or television shows. One of my favorite movies is "The Godfather" but I would never repeat the violence in that because it disgust me. But do you think some people, especially children, might be encouraged by movies with such violence? There are movies like "Pay It Forward" though that leave me with a feeling of wanting to help and make the world a better place. Which of these two types of movies has more effect?
I know a lot of people try to blame Eminem for being horrible. They try to blame him for the downfall of society. Do you think that some artists who use violence, bad language, and sex to sell their records are overrunning our airwaves? Or do you think songs like "Where is the Love?" by Black Eyed Peas (awesome song...check it out if you haven't) have more meaning?
I just wanted to gather some thoughts on this. Thank yall.

people intending to kill may get some new ideas from the movies, but the instigation is themselves after all.

anyways movies nowadays are abusing violence--useless violence which makes no involvement with the gut of the movies.
just to describe the villain of the piece and show off the killing skills, they can kill many extras for the heck of it...i got kind of numb after seeing too much killing actually,it gets all dull.

music, movies, plays, and even art are SUPPOSED to stir up emotions in us. that's why we involve ourselves in them. it's what we do with those emotions that we have to take responsibility for.

sex and violence attract alot of people just because of their themes. i think that people here in the states have become conditioned to having short attention spans, and couldn't handle a 1930's german expressionistic movie or those artsy movies which require discussion afterwards. no offence to anyone in general. let there be explosions and car chases for the mindless masses. i mean entertainment is good to a point, but it can really distract you from your life and the more important things in this world; just like any drug.
