Today .. NASA declared an emergency after losing communication with space shuttle Columbia. There are witnesses who have said they saw a great ball of fire in the air. I'm still hoping for a miricle with this horrible event.. but i think we should say a small prayer for the 7 people who are on the shuttle, 6 americans and the first israeli astronaut.
there's a lot to be said about america's fascination with space travel - a concrete example of pioneers pushing the boundaires of known frontiers...
what makes so many people want to focus on the shuttle tragedy is because of its relative apolictal nature - no one wanted this to happen, no one deliberately took action to set this tragedy in motion. it's a relief to many to be able to mourn without concerning themselves with cultural issues and political ramifications. it allows one to feel loss without anger - and that is something that is fairly unique in today's world.
so let society grieve - it will have more than ample opportunity to focus on the events the political machinery is creating.
I think the media is, as usual, making too much of it with typical senstionalism. The shuttle is a prescision machine, and any tiny problem or error with it can easily cause quite a disaster. However, the media is overinflating the significance of this instance. Of course I feel sympathy for the families, etc, but alot more than 7 people die daily here in LA alone from various car accidents, etc, and this coverage is just a waste of more time that probably should be relegated to the discussion of a war that we're going intowithout much support and without any very good reasons. __________________
I think they crashed I'm not sure, I might heard wrong or misunderstood I really don't know but I'm listening to music and I think there was a station talking about it but I frist find out about it on tv when I was trying to look for cartoons to watch. Bye N have a nice day
Does anyone know yet? I'm kind of wondering what happened up there. I was flipping around between cartoons and stupid infomercials when I knocked into a news report, and that was when I first heard about it. They were saying something about that people in the Fort Worth area of Texas should be really careful not to touch any debris that might fall. My face looked like , and of course I was wondering about the seven astronauts aboard the Columbia. Perhaps this is God's way of telling us: "Stay the CRAP out of space!" --- Sorry if that was a bit inappropriate for the seriousness of the situation, but I find it difficult to deal with grief unless I crack a few jokes. Anyway...let's just take it as it comes, and I hope some information will come to light soon.
Yea, I heard of that, well I saw it on tv just right now. I'm sorry to say but I change the channel really fast, I can't take this anymore, it's just to scary to think they are going to die. I feel terrible for doing that. All the channels have it on..........and I didn't watch none of them, instead i watched channel 11, that's a happy channel. Bye N have a nice day
