Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables? A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Technically, fruitarian is the ULTIMATE cruelty free lifestyle, and you can live a healthy lifestyle on fruits. I know someone who's been a fruitarian for years and they are chipper. http://www.fruitarian.com/ for more info. I however LOVE food and don't think I could be devoted to the fruitarian cause, but I do think fruitarians do have some pretty good reasoning behind their lifestyle.

Your problem earthgoddess: Was that all you ate was Veggies. You probably consumed the veggies that don't provide loads of iron and zinc and calcium, and vitamin A. Spinach, Kale, White, red and Rainbow chard are excellent sources of these! Including legumes in your vegetarian diet is essential to having energy and your overall health. Legumes are beans, cashews, peanuts, lentils all these loaded with protein . Tofu is also filled with protein(isoflavones) and calcium. I know of many people that go vegetarian and believe they can thrive off of salads which consist of mostly iceberg lettuce, thats the wrong way to go. With a well BALANCED vegan/vegetarian diet is key to optimal health and energy. I've been vegan for about 4 years and vegetarian for 7 and I very healthy. No anemia ( which many people believe vegetarians are plagued with), healthy lean weight of 124. I'm just all round healthy green gal!
For all of my peoples out there who want to go the healthy compassionate route of vegetarianism, I have some advice that has kept me healthy. If nothing else try to include as much dark green leafy vegetables in you diet as often as possible.I've been having a bowl of raw spinach every day and my skin is healthyh and my immune system is stellar. Green, Black, and Golden seal tea (sweetened with honey) is full of antioxidants

If we replaced every cattle ranch in the U.S. with some type of vegetable crop; hunger could be eliminated worldwide. The reason; plants use up much less space and energy for the amount of food they produce. Animal crops provide about ten times less food for the same amount of energy they consume.

quote: The real issue is simple. The vegetarian and/or vegan lifestyles are much healthier. It is proven - this is not just opinion.
Whoa. That's not exacty true for everyone. I tried to eat only veggies for about a month when I was younger and I had absolutely no energy. I got sick with the flu. I had several headaches. I started eating meat again and I felt much better. Everybody's different. Some people can eat meat and live to be 100. Some can eat veggies and live to be 50. Now if you ate meat like my dad does (1 to 2 pounds of bacon a day, loads of beef and salmon jerky, burgers, etc.), you can't expect to live for a very long time.

I'm against lysol because the company that makes it tests on animals. That said, I think if you don't want to use products that have had pesticides used on them (like cotton, fruits and vegetables) the best thing to do is buy organic. It's better for the animals and the plants

I'm confused... I didn't say I was a fruitarian. Bauhaus did. But his fruitarian line is basically from the movie Notting Hill.

Yeah, almost as scary as the inconsistent argument of killing humans is okay under certain unjustified cases.

I am not saying killing fruits or vegetables is wrong. Nor am I saying that killing animals is entirely wrong. Thus, I am not against Lysol.

" He said fruits that fall. So they're dead. " Yeah, but they are still fruits. Any fruit that you eat is not connected to to its base or stem, but it is still a fruit.

" I dont think you understood me, I dont eat meet, and I dont kill plants. I eat what they leave behind. "Fruitarian" Nothing is harmed when I eat, so that makes me a much better vegetarian then you. " Since when are fruits not plants? Bauhaus, not only is your logic off, but your kindergarden education is as well. Anyways, if you did just eat FRUITS, then why would you still call yourself a VEGEtarian?
