The point I was trying to make was that Christianity had a lot to do with how the world's economies functioned.
No, it's not an under-handed attempt for a state-sponsored religion (I'm not Communist, remember that), but I never really thought about how Christianity did all that.
Stop making this into a debate, icm. That wasn't the intention of it. Just some interesting background info on economics.

In particular the branch of Christianity, Calvinism, had a lot to do with fueling Capitalism; mainly do to the Calvinist ideas of the world not mattering and salvation being the important thing. Also the Calvinist idea of preordained salvation had a lot to do with it also.

And so slavery was a "main locus" for the "first flowerings" of our nation's economy. That didn't make it right, if indeed what you're doing here is attempting to bolster support for state-endorsed religion by passing it off as harmless tradition.  It was an interesting article though. I'd never thought about it before.
