I've noticed that most of the cds I have are all cds I never bought from the store. My grandma always nagged me to stop paying $2 to Travis my friend for making me cds. There illegal!!! blah blah she yells at me for it everytime she sees a blank cd. Well anyways getting back on the topic. I was watching mtv2 news (before Will and Grace came on) anyways they were talking about the Riaa (R.I double A) They talked about how they sued this kid for making a mp3 search engine for his college around 12 million ( I think it was I could be wrong) Also they are now trying to stop the consumers by sueing them. I heard Kazaa (from a person who isn't the most best source, but it could be true) goes into your computer and counts all the songs you downloaded and charges you $700 for each song! So I wanted to know do you think after all these warnings your going to stop burning cds or continue. I'm going to contiune, but maybe more cautious. (misspelling I'm the typo queen! sorry everyone) The guy from MTv 2 made a good point. People are going to know it is illegal, but they aren't going to do much about it. Kinda like (prepare yourselfs a misspelling is coming up) Jaywalking (lol) it is illegal, but everyone does it with no fear or worry.

The 'morally wrong' argument falls down immediately when you consider how these bands make next to no money from CD sales and most of it goes to the record label. There is no point supporting music that is on a major record label. Infact, it makes a lot of sense to boycott it. Check out www.downhillbattle.org for some info abou that boycott.

In a way, I don't see what the big deal is. I mean, it's not right to download a whole CD, because if you truly appreciate the band/singer for what they've done, then you'd buy their stuff. But like, if you want Disney songs, like me ^_^, then it's hard to find some. They don't make those CDs anymore and I love the disney classics! I did use WinMX, which is really effective and downloads quickly and easily. I hate downloading songs straight from the internet, most sites you have to request them from the people and can only get a few... how annoying... >_<;; Plus it's hard to find a decent site, but those programs like Kazaa ruin your computer and are hard to get off once it's on. They should just lower the price of CDs instead of complaining that people are pirating. If people could afford them, then they'd buy them. See? Simple ^_^

You can download music legally and not pay a dime, you know. The only music downloading that is illegal is peer-to-peer services such as Kazaa and others. Those are downloading services where you download a song from someone else or a "peer." But if you download music from a website that is not a peer-to-peer service (read the Terms and Conditions of the site) then it's not illegal. I download tons of music from web-sites like this, I'm not doing anything illegal, and I'm not paying a dime.
The reason why I think downloading is okay is this: Most of the time, I download one song from an album. Meaning, I don't wish to buy the whole CD---I just want that one song. And I don't think I should have to buy the CD to get that one song. Also, I'm a teen and I only get paid allowance and some money from my dad for working for him and his business sometimes (but I'm not officially employed). So I don't want to have to buy songs off the Internet when I think I should get one single song for free. I'm not making CDs and selling them or creating bootleg copies or anything like that. I'm merely doing this for myself. Also, if I do like a particular band and I know I'm going to like more than one song then I WILL go buy the CD.
Anyways, if you're looking for legal downloading, look for some of those types of sites I mentioned. Make sure to type Free Online MP3 Downloads in your search engine.

I think your friend is overcharging you for burning CDs. The actual blank CDs don't cost more than 20 cents if you buy them in a stack and the copying is free.
Actually, its more illegal if he makes money out of copying. Make him do it for free, threaten him with the police, he he.
I also have loads of copies, I borrow CDs from my friends and copy them myself.
We're all hardened criminals...meh.
My school even photocopies things illegally, I don't think anyone cares that much.

If I wasn't a music addict with a slow internet connection, I would be downloading tons of songs. But I am what I am, so I get my kicks buying new cds whenever I'm bored. I don't even have Kazaa or one of those things.

quote: I told you it was optional on the very first post.
Yeah, it's optional all right...for stupid people. Let me explain this slowly for your wee little brain. CDs is spelled CDs.There is no "optional apostrophe". When CDs IS spelled with an apostrophe, it is to show possession. Example : The CD's content was rated by the kids. quote: I am not coming back here agian. Goodbye.
Don't lie. I know that you're reading this. I can smell your presence...and it smells like fish. quote: It is your loss.
I believe the contrary. And for the record, my teacher graduated from Brown University - an Ivy-League school - so if you're still so obstinate as to believe your "30 day Idiot's Course to Punctuation" is better than his teaching...you're more screwed for life than you already are. Good luck at community college Betty Crocker.

CDs costs money to make. If people don't buy the cds there will no money to cover the costs of cds and the entertainment industry will dwindle, it is that simple. Take a look at the sales hit Metallica took when Napster was open. If it were not for the property rights of music, we would not have an entertainment industry.

It is now clear that all fo you who think that you should be allowed to pirate music are in fact extreme libs. It is obvious due to the fact that your views on this reflect your veiws on may other things. One of the main things that seperates this country from the rest of the world is property rights and the respect for private property. If you support the illegal and unconstitution pirating of music than where do you draw the line of stealing industrial patents. Many of you probably think that the government should collect all private property and dole it out as they see fit, or that you should be able to steal things from people and have no consequences. If you dont beleive this then you should stand with me against the illegal pirateing and theivery that is taking place in the music industry.

No college in the united states has 12 million students.
Kazaa $700 dollars a song, the federal government only charges a dollar a song if you get caught.
Pay the ten dollars for a cd, musicians devote time and energy into making cds, the least you can do is purchase it instead of bootleging it.

I told you it was optional on the very first post. If I failed to catch sarcasm It might be because I can't actually hear your voice. I am not coming back here agian. Goodbye. It is your loss.

So you admit it. Wow, you're incredibly stupid...it makes me angry. Obviously, you haven't learned to catch onto sarcasm yet.

Go read Punctuation plain and simple, ask my English teachers, watch Standard Deviants: Punctuation. There can be an apostrophe in CD's. It is optional. I am not Betty Crocker. My name isn’t even actually Betty. Don’t make yourself look stupid.

THERE IS NO APOSTROPHE IN CDs!!!! Go ask your english teacher Betty Crocker. It's not just that it bugs me - it's not correct! You KNOW that I'm right and you are only attacking my "foul mouth" to divert this argument. Don't deny it. It's a technique that many women use.

There can be an apostrophe in CD's that is my point. I don’t care if it bugs you, you were wrong. I suggest 30 days to a better vocabulary for that problem of yours. You know the foul mouth that never quits? There is really nothing wrong with being the way I am. I think “prude” was made up by people like you, who find yourself lacking and take people being correct as a personal insult.

There should be no apostrophe in CDs. It bugs me to no end when people use apostrophes in words that don't require them (example, 1980's). And don't be such a prude you pretentious b*tch.

confettikiss06, it is correct to put an apostrophe there. If you ever take a good grammar class, they will tell you that. Apostrophe in that case simply separates the letters so it is less confusing. It is just like you can write that your report card had all A’s on it. It is fine to do without though. The “cd” should be capitalized. That wasn’t correct. A good class might be able to help you increase your vocabulary, too. Then you would be able to think of something other than a swear word. In fact, if you want to be really technical, you didn’t use correct grammar and are therefore a hypocrite. I know, so am I. We all are. Don’t bother to tell me.
