Bah! Will people stop comlaining that the US is a heartless Socialist/Capitalist/Communist/Atheist/Christian/Scientologist country? I think not.

People, the US runs a regulated free market economy. Pure capitalism fails, pure socialism fails. The US has designed a somewhat happy medium when it comes to making money. Yes some parts could do without regulations, and yes some could do with more. Just stop with the annoying bias. There is too too much propaganda out there, and everyone is being polluted by it.

I think most people complain about the economic policies the US puts out because theyre practicing the same thing that has been practiced by europe and the western world for over 500 years, subjugation and conquest

I agree with you. I think. Mostly.

Although, to be fair, I don't think the world has yet seen a true, pure socialist or capitalist society.

You would have needed to say "AMERICA HAS BEEN A MIXED FREE MARKETISM" to match teh grammatical incorrectness of the original.

Other than that, don't expect the "propaganda" to stop. People have opinions and I don't see why this is a bad thing. The wishy-washiness of the mixed economy is an example of the pliable, compromising nature of the people. There's something to be said for agreement and compromise, but not much really. No one's hapy and everyone has to live with somethign they only half agree with.
This also shows up in the two-party system, the evennes of the divide. The liberal-conservative dichotomy and the belief that centrism is the way. Politics becoems a mad dash to see who can give up the most of their core values, to balance having a spine and being electable. It's a sad sad state of affairs.
What we end up with is a mix of oil and water in the name of compromise. The parts of one negate the effectiveness of the other. Nothing works when you do it half-assed.
To say either system fails is to think that either has been tried. The more pure the systems is the more likely it has been that it will succeed. Commitment to an idea or goal is paramount.
Sure, in the current state of affairs we get a mix, but then some complain of a 'welfare state', others of "sorporate facism' or 'class warfare'. No one is satisfied and we get a mess of crap that doesn't work like it supposed to, so we pay the next round of centrists to fix it. But they who are elected then realize that to change anything one way or the otehr you upset the balance and **** someone off, not only does it still not work, but then you're out of a job and neitehr is what oyu want. So you do some superficial cleaning, dust of old ideas and rhetoric and hopefully keep your a$$ secure when the slight breeze of fortunes shift the national political affiliation a few percentage points one way or the other.
What we *need* is a lack of apathy and acceptance for the facts, the way things are, and a desire to see them differently or change them, economically, socially, politically, religiously, whatever.
Complacency is evil and witty sayings prove nothing. Quoting a political author to say that political propaganda ruins our culture seems contradictory.
