What a complete and total scam. Our generation will never see a dime from social security and we are looking more and more like the work hourse for the Babey Boomers. People should invest their money on their own because I gaurntee you I can invest my money a hell of a lot better than the government can.

I think older people deserve some help I mean they are getting older and losing there health. So maybe social security isn't such a terrible thing?  |

i agree with some of that, marine. social security worked fine during the 70s and 80s but the changes in society (i.e. living longer with more expenses) are leaving it facing a bleak and bankrupted end by the time we are eligible for benefits.
it's also true, a lot of us probably could invest our money more wisely than the government could. but i'd be willing to bet that for every one of us that could successfully manage our money there are two people that could not. that would leave a lot of broke and angry people with no support in the future - which could be a crippling financial burden to the country. on the other hand, i don't have a better idea right now.
