Why is evolution so readily taught at schools, i've been learning recently that there are many problems for the evolutionary theory and most of public don't even know about half of them, so why is a topic so easily disproven believed by so many and taught to so many?

I get quite a kick out of the thought of the world being one big crazy fluke. It's kinda funny. It all depends on the way you look at things… Also, I know for a fact I was a mistake (my mum was using contraception 99% certain to stop pregnancy. She had triplets. Figure the irony of that…) and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Who's to say there isn't a purpose in anything just because God isn't involved? Surely there's something worthwhile in your life besides God?
I'm not attacking your faith or anything. I'm just giving my perspective as an atheist/agnostic.

damn i just wrote an essay explaining evolution but i didnt save o well. And i agree with brooke, im definitly not angry at nsyncgirl (it would be pretty hard to get angry about something on the internet), but i definitly like to see what she will say next. Like a good cartoon character.
Why did you erase the 'facts' ? I'd like you to post some concrete evidence that the bible is true, etc, if you choose to use it as a reference in argument. I dont base my logic on Dianetics or The Lord of the Rings, why do you believe you have that luxury ?
Um, I don't think Nsyncgirl is making anyone angry so much as she is making us laugh. And not laugh in a funny/haha way, but more in a "this girl is crazy" funny/interesting kind of way. I for one can't wait to see what she'll come up with next!

If evolution is true, which it isn't, but if, then who cares? If nothing is going to happen to me when I die, who cares? If I am right, which I am, then when I die, I got no worries because I was better safe than sorry, and you guys well um.......... I think you get it.

You may say only life matters, that this afterlife buisness is nonsense and not worth thinking about, but when it is YOU who are dying, suddenly knowing what happens after death will become very important to you.
True. Things do evolve, this is a fact- but this is a fact of microevolution, and it must be distinguished from macroevolution, which is what is being debated here.

I really doubt your book says that evolution is a fact (as opposed to creation), BUT, it IS a fact that things evolve over time and i could see the book saying that and you cant say that they dont.

We are just here to live. Most people are able to create their own purpose for living. Some people who are weak minded or stupid turn to religion instead because it is a quick and simple way to say you are doing somethign with your life. (when in fact you arent)

And that is exactly why you have chosen religion over accepting the fact you (and none of us) are important. If all humans died, life on earth would not only continue, but it would (in my oppinion) improve.
So why dont you get over yourself and admit we are all pieces of **** waiting to die.

It's believed by many because some people do not accept the theory of God. It's basically taught to provide you with an overall understanding of what evolution is. Darwin's theory of Evolution has many flaws, but he was a very smart man. I believe it is just a controversial subject between the monotheistic religions and Atheism.
because it is currently the most consistent scientific theory to explain the patterns, consistency, and changes in the history of living organisms.
schools should not tell people that they must believe in evolution. however, since schools are responsible for teaching science, i believe that they have a responsibility to present the theory of evolution since it currently possesses the greatest consensus amongst scientists. but schools boards in kansas and the like evidently disagree.
anyways, i think that there are multiple threads pertaining to evolution and the accompanying controversy.
