Is it me or is Bush a little too eager to go to war? Iraq is complying to American and British wishes, it seems, and still he talks about war. Bush wouldn't care what's going on in Iraq if it wasn't for the oil. It's also very hard to say how much of what is told to us about Saddam's regime and the danger he poses is Western propaganda and what is real. What do you think? Oil motivated warmongering or is there a valid reason (other than greed) for war against Iraq? I think people here in Britain are, on the whole, against war (although i haven't seen any recent stats). What are opinions like in the states?

do you really think the international community would let the us just take all the Iraqi oil? We won't get any more oil by overthrowing saddam. Did we take any oil in the gulf war?

i think i can speack for many military people who defend our country, killing isn't something we want do. However, we don't like dieing either. can you guys please think about the armed forces also??? and BUSH DOES NOT WANT TO KILL FOR OIL...any informed people would know iraq would probably be in safer hands (don't even think the US's) if we hadn't been sooo careful in the gulf war not to hurt any civilians in our strikes.

The only reason for war in the Middle East is so bush can get more oil. In the Gulf War, the only reason the we Americans defended Kuwait from Iraq was because of the oil in Kuwait. There are all sorts of injustices going on in our world, we just get involved with the ones which are beneficial to us. Personally, I think that before we get involved in a war, we should concentrate on improving our country. There are homeless people who just need a few hundred dollars to have better living conditions, but here we are blowing millions of bucks on a war w/ Iraq. The people who will really get hurt are innocents, civilians just trying to survive.

One of the big mistakes Bush made was saying early on that we're going to go to war w/ Iraq, period. And now he has to, or America looks even stupider in the eyes of the world. So yeah, he is very much pushing for war, and will likely do so, unless of course public opinon turns against him. And turning it is. Dubya's approval rating is slowly but surely dropping, and the antiwar movement is slowly but surely gaining in strength. Personally, I think that yes, there are a whole mess of reasons for going to war against Iraq. BUT, the reasons for not doing so outweigh those for it. You probably already know all about them, so I won't repeat. As for oil, it's not really the only reason, but I'm sure Bush/Cheney's oil buddies wouldn't mind if they could get their hands on Iraq's oil. I think more likely, it's a political power play. War jacks up approval ratings like nobody's business, and the longer Bush can maintain the "War on Terror," the better it'll be for his political future. But what do I know? I'm just this guy, you know?
