Sudha has a point. Why don't we just go and attack Pakistan? Well, I know there's a reason for not doing that but I can't think of it right now.
As for what war is worth: War is inevitable. As long as there are differences in this world, as long as there are extremists in this world, then war is inevitable. The downside of war is that there will be so much death and destruction. But what that death and destruction may bring the end of oppression in a poverty stricken nation, the end of a violent struggle that has been going on for so many years. War can be deadly, but it brings good results.
Well, sometimes it does. I'm not sure if the Vietnam War brought good results, but anyways...

hey if u think america is doing justice to the world then why does it turn such a blind eye to all the terrorist organisations in pakistan. if it rocks iraq with its bombs then it has every right to bust pakistan as well. if it does that then surely thousands of years of violence and oppression of women will end????

Saddam Hussein killed 200,000-400,000 people. That's a lot of people to kill in 24 years. Now, what about the 2 wars and the sanctions between them which were used to weaken the regime? According to US Defense Department estimates after Gulf War I, there wer approx 100,000 deaths. Conservative estimates of the effect of the sanctions are 500,000 deaths. Plus another 10-30k deaths in Gulf War II. That's 610,000 is 12 years (plus the casualties of impending civil war if you've been keeping up w/ the news), vs. 400,000 in 24 years. Who was a worse enemy to the Iraqi people?

Saddam killed hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, as did Idi Amin. Hitler killed millions. So did Stalin.
War, in various forms, stopped that.
War may suck, but the alternative is often worse.

This war is not about land or greed or anything like that. This war is being fought for two reasons: The defense of our country and the defense of freedom the world over.
We really don't care about a piece of sand in the Middle East, we have a beautiful country that is big enough for all of us. What we DO care about is the well being of the people that live in Iraq and about a crazy leader that hates everything we and other western nations stand for: democracy, equality, justice, and freedom. Saddam would love to strike a blow at these ideals, but we refuse to allow that to happen.
You think we want to go over there and kill innocent civilians? Of course not! Our military is doing everything it possibly can to avoid harming civilians. And in case you havent noticed, the war to gain control has been over for awhile. Most of the attacks now are attacks from Saddam loyalists on our soliers, who are over there trying to keep peace. We dont want to fight anymore, and we dont want to control Iraq. We want to get rid of Saddam and his regime, rebuild Iraq, set up a democratic government, and get the heck out of there.
Oh one more thing, the war is DEFINITELY not about money. Do you know how much money we are spending on this war? Just yesterday Bush asked congress for 87 Billion dollars for the situation in Iraq. 87 BILLION DOLLARS! There are plenty of things within our own country I could think of to do with that money, but instead we are using it for the Iraqi people and for freedom.

Why do you defend Saddam?
You know nothing about why war happens.
It is not known how many Iraqis perished in Saddam's prisons or torture chambers. Human rights groups regard 200,000 as a low estimate. During the genocidal campaign against Iraqi Kurds in 1988, Human Rights Watch estimates that the number of disappeared was between 50,000 and 100,000. Kurdish groups say there were 180,000. The slaughter of Shi'ites in the south after the Gulf War was also monstrous. The reality implicit in these numbers is that in the past 35 years, few Iraqi families did not lose someone to Saddam's executioners or his wars.
But no! Don't overthrow this man! A kid could get blown up!
He would much rather live his whole life oppresed.
The regime executes alleged political opponents — civilians and military, religious and tribal — without trial. Arbitrary executions also occur as part of "prison cleansing" campaigns. An estimated 3,000 prisoners have been executed in such campaigns since 1997. Allegations of prostitution have led to beheading of women. Such allegations are used for political purposes to intimidate opponents of the regime.
The Iraqi Government used rape and sexual assault of women to achieve the following goals: to extract information and forced confessions from detained family members; to intimidate Iraqi oppositionists by sending videotapes showing the rape of female family members; and to blackmail Iraqi men into future cooperation with the regime. Some Iraqi authorities even carry personnel cards identifying their official "activity" as the "violation of women's honor."
A personal eye witness account provided this description of the "people shredder" at work:
"There was a machine designed for shredding plastic. Men were dropped into it and we were again made to watch. Sometimes they went in head first and died quickly. Sometimes they went in feet first and died screaming. It was horrible. I saw 30 people die like this. Their remains would be placed in plastic bags and we were told they would be used as fish food ... on one occasion, I saw Qusay [President Saddam Hussein's youngest son] personally supervise these murders."
But hey, thats ok right? As long as theres no war?
Do you really think 3 months of war is worse then 30 more years of Saddam for the people of Iraq.
It is people who refuse to face evil people like Saddam who have blood on there hands.
Not George W.
