Well what with all the arguing around I decided to create a light hearted topic, if one day the worlds borders dissolve, what should be the capitol of the world? my vote is for Istanbul, and im backed up by the thoughts of Napoleon who once stated the same. Istanbul is at the crossroads of civilisation and was the seat of many empires and religions, it is beautiful and populous with history and modernity and also represents a city of tolerance for all religions and minorities. I'm also leaving for the city by train in a few hours! what would everyone else vote for?

Are you crazy? NO! They'd be called Sealandians or Sealandites or something.

The only reasonable response to this question is obvious; Helsinki.

Excellent, there's only ONE answer: Sealand!

i think the reason the area is so deprived is the fact that it is a desert and therefore building any sort of cosmopolitan metropolis there would be largely impossible!

I think Babylon, Constantinople, or Ctesiphon, the old capital of Parthia. Or what about Ur, the first city of them all?

If you're going for a world capital, I think there's only one way to go, and that's the same path America took early on: Build an entirely new city. I mean it would be the ushering in of a new era anyway. No need to bicker over which old nation or culture would get the pride of being the "world capital".
