Is America to materialistic? With are t.v's, music equipment, microwaves, ect.? Does that make us weaker? That we wouldn't want to give those things up for anything? That we are to spoiled? In other countries, they don't have these things. (I'm not saying this opinion from my behalf) "Other countries think we are weaker than them. They look down apon us and use that as their advantage." Is that true? Are we truley weaker? We are so tied up about are "valuables" that we don't worry about other things that would affect us greatly. Tell me your views, please, be serious. -Sunset

This really depends on how you look at it from a cultural perspective, the other countries that see us as "weak" are being very ethnocentric. Also what does one deem as weak, this again is a cultural thing. In the U.S the acquisition of items means power, so again the countries who are deeming us weak are being very ethnocentric because they judging our country on there cultural systems and values. Materialism has fueled our countries economy and made it strong; also lets not forget a little bit of Calvinism as well. Now I believe in some cases our consumerism has gotten a little out of hand, destruction of our ecosystem, mass extinction of animals, but again for this to be perceived as weakness is totally up to the culture.
