I would love to know why the general society is prejidiced against fat people. As I talk from experience it hurts when you're humiliated, disliked or left out. If anybody's got an answer, pleeeez let me know.

No it happens in socialist country's like Spain (recently banned skinny models). And bigger models in America are becoming more popular.

This especially happens in countrys where there are not enough resource. People want the oppisit of whats normal. If most women are starved, the want to see larger women as models. If people are obese (sp) they want skinny. Fat models aren't going to be popular in the US any time soon.

People are only made fun of for being fat in like middle school. As long as it doesn't affect your life it's fine. And if you have that big of a problem with it, I suggest working out and eating differently. Very few people are fat with good eating habits.

Unless your fatness affects your ability to work or do things, it is probably no big deal. If you are that fat do something about it.

I completely agree. Actually, society is know starting to change. Although it's not really in our country, other countries, like Mexico, are not wanting "skinny models" and are opposed to the stick figure that many girls have due to peer pressure. Personally, obesity might even become fashionable soon since skinny models are out and fat ones are in.

I think it is because someone thought that thinness was good,they must have been very loved among people or somthing and then people started folowing because the person was soooo wonderful to them. Then, that thought grew and grew into the media,and that influenced people all around.
People CAN be fat,beautiful and healthy.
Yep,all at the same god damn time.
Some people think fats gross.
Some people,like me,think thinness is horribly disgusting and over rated.

A psychologist who gave a seminar near here (Leonard Sax) said that the main reason America's children are getting fatter is that parents aren't convinced they have enough authority to force kids to eat properly. They don't buy the right foods because the kid "just won't" eat anything but x number of foods and therefore doesn't get fed right. This teaches the kid that it's okay to eat only what tastes good (and that the parents' orders are only "good advice" to be accepted or rejected)and the problem stretches on.

I'm not prejudice against any one, regardless of their size, color, age, gender, etc. But I have absolutely no patience when it comes to dealing with someone of obese proportions. I am a hostess and very, very large people come to the restaurant all the time. Some say, "I need a table close up, I can't walk that far." Why can't they walk far? Because they sit at home on their couches and snack on brownies, cookies, chips and other crap that is loaded with calories and fat.
If "fat" people had respect for themselves and their bodies, they wouldn't be fat and no one would be complaining about people being "prejudice".
There are of course, the exceptions: people who have disorders or conditions that disable them from exercising or prevent them from having normal metabolisms. But like I said, personally I am not prejudice towards anyone.
If you tried to eat right, exercise, and be healthier in general, you would lose weight and you wouldn't have to deal with people being rude. I am not condoning any rude behavior towards ANY person. I'm just saying that there is a reason more and more people are becoming over weight. It happens to be laziness. And that disgusts those who want the world to be healthy.

It's not because you're simply "fat" it's what derives from that: health problems which cause you to have more trouble participating in sports or ANY activities, having to (perhaps) buy different clothing, ect....

Although, I guess I may have just elaborated on what you were saying.

i strongly disagree. Some fat people cant help that their fat. They could have a disorder or something. Most of the US' fat people are lazy, but not all. GET YOUR FACTS!!!

I believe it is wrong to descriminate people on how they look. Everyone looks diffrent and thats how it going to be. People have problems with themselves, so they like to take it out on other people.

i have had that problem before and all i can say is dont let it get to u. i know that's not much help. The truth is even the best people in the world judge people by how others look whether they realize it or not. stand tall and as alec guinness said, rise above it

overweight people don't fit with societies view of what is attractive, this acts as a powerful force which can be very distressing for fat people.

But imagine if society didn't care? would the weight problems occuring in countries like the US, china, UK, Japan etc be worse? and if they were then we would all be in trouble, imagine how bad an entirely overweight workforce would be, the UKs National Health Service which is entirely free wouldn't be able to cope with the influx of people with heart problems etc.

yeah i think i have a feel of what a person will be like but i still give them a chance and 99% pf the time i am wrong from the begining.....
