What if a woman throws her husbands @$$ out.
And Marine, darling, there are college professors who are homeless. It's not that uncommon. Quit being such a spoiled little rich ***** and see life the way you don't have it.

"people who have regular jobs and get minimum wage cannot afford rent." Are you kidding me? Work harder and longer. get a new job. If people reallt have a full time job they can afford rent. Will it be the nicests house? Probably not, but a house is a house. Everyone can raise out of poverty, but they have to want to.
As for sposual abuse, if the women runs away, she will be homeless, if she does not get a job.

just to pitch in my 2 cents worth... yeah, theres educated homeless people and stuff, like someone else said, but there is also the working homeless. people who have regular jobs and get minimum wage cannot afford rent. some live in their cars, on the street, or whatnot. and they keep working, but they cant get outta the loop they got into without help. i would also like to add, and its important, that domestic violence is one of the biggest reasons why women become homeless. so consider this the next time ur complaining about ur hard earned money. as for panhandlers: i always try to give them some change. they may be using theyre money for other things. but what if they arent? how can you tell? ill give a few quarters to ten people, and if one of them really needed it for food, i'd be happy.

I was a homeless teen and I know how hard it is to get out of it. Luckly for me I had someone who wanted to help and I know that there is something we can do in my community there is this thing called community works that helps teens who are homeless get a home and a job if we could just spread the word then maybe we could get these kids off the street. it's not easy but it's not hard either. I am starting a petetion on how we can help homeless teens. if you have any questions please contact me at ghettopoet@hotmail.com

Its very hard for homeless people to get a second chance through welfare or otherwise because most of them havent been within the system, paying taxes, etc, for a long time, I was talking to a couple of homeless people down in LA a while ago about this type of stuff.
And yes, its quite hard being homeless, I slept in an alcove about a hundred feet over the surface of a flood chanel under a railway bridge once for the hell of it, and it was in no way comfortabnle, everything was cold, hard. and immovable. Tats just one askpct of a homeless peron's life, and most probably dont even have a place as safe as that to sleep. ______________________

One day my mother and my sisters(including me) seen this family on the street the moters sister had kicked them out after they had been in the state for three weeks. They gave up everything just to go and start over and the sister tells them to just get out. My mom talked to her and gave her some money to get on her feet. Now they are doing just fine and were still good friends with them.

Marine16, that's awful. Who are you to say what happen in someone's life? elmerfudd's right, get a heart. ya know what, sometimes, people mess up. Everyone does at one point. Sometimes the messes are big, sometimes small, but they deserve a 2nd chance. these people aren't all lazy, they're not all uneducated. (In an article I read in civics, there was a homeless stockbroker, doctor, college professor) There are people who are too ill, either mentally or physically to work.
So, GET A HEART.

I can't handle this anymore. I just can't stand you people. All you ignorant a$$holes who refuse to even think about helping others around you. All you care about is yourselves, how far you can get, how much money you can make, and how high you can het in the social ladder. You people make me sick sick sick. I don't get how any one can be so selfish and so ignorant. The majority of homeless people are NOT all drunks. No way. Hell, I know several people who were homeless. I can think of 4 specifically right now. My sister was homeless and under the care of her 17 yr old sister because their mom was drunk. How the hell is that their fault? Please explain. If we don't do something to help these people now, it'll eventually catch up with us. Maybe not in your or my lifespan, but eventually. If no one ******* pitches in, Marine16, you can bet there'll be a time when the streets are full with homeless who don't have a chance, and the mansions full of the rich snobs who refused to help at all. Get a heart.

tannisrt: you have the typical, stereotypical view of homelessness. No, not even many homeless people are druggies or alcoholics. Yes, of course, there are some, but there are probably just as many, if not more mentally ill people on the streets. There are sooo many reasons why a family or person becomes homeless. Anything from eviction, to lost job, to mental illness, just about anything and everything you can imagine. In bigger cities, if they can't find a homeless shelter, they sleep in subway stations, cars (if they have them), parks, doorsteps, anywhere they can be mildly sheltered. They don't get to have an 8 hr sleep like you and I, they are constantly roused, either by cops, or because they must be wary of others. In shelters, you sleep with your shoes, coat, everything on. Because people can, and will steal it. Many homeless people cannot hold a job. If because of an addiction or illness, or children, or otherwise, they must keep moving. There are many elderly homeless people, who cannot get their SS payments because they have no address. Welfare is for many, a great way to get back on your feet. The welfare program in Wisconsin (where I live) helps people get education so they can get, and keep a good job. It is highly effective and many states, if not the nation, are following suit. No one deserves to be homeless, and because (I think on this statistic) 1 in every 10 will either be homeless or close to it at one time in their life, we all need to support them. There is no typical homeless person. Each case is unique, and unfortunate. Homeless people aren't all druggies, they're not all alone (many have families), they're not all the same, or have similar experiences. It's just bad luck, and they all need our help. *ALL MY INFORMATION CAME FROM MY CIVICS TEACHER AND THE DIRECTOR FROM THE LOCAL HOMELESS SHELTER. I DON'T HAVE ANY SPECIFIC SOURCES, OTHER THAN MY CIVICS NOTEBOOK, BUT I CAN'T POST THAT *

So we should all pitch in to eradicate homelessness? What a **** good idea. We should all sacrfice our hard earned money to people who have all ready trown out their money. We should all break our backs carrying people who are too lazy to do their own work, that does sound like a good idea.

Sure it feels great to give some cash to some homeless guy standing on street corners with signs that read "I have 3 children, we are starving, please help" But the fact is they make more money doing that then trying to clean themselves up and get a job. Most of them are probably on drugs and used your money to keep them high. Its too bad, but really you should be helping people that decided to get a job and try to make their lives brighter by helping themselves. These people are the people who need the most support because they decided to take a chance. This dosn't apply to everyone standing on the streets, but most.
