maybe they should make it illegal--but what's the point? send the flag police over and get me? lol i am not the one burning them, but i know alot of dudes here do. we don't really appriciate living in a ghetto. while politicians make silly laws about saving fabric.
"i really don't understand worshipping the flag." --my English keyboarding teacher
well i understand what's behind it--and how much love there is.
And pillows, and the 9/11 Memorial Flag poster, and other flags all over my room-AND I'M PROUD OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!I don't give a dollar if you say i'm a stupid ignorant American who thinks her nation is perfect and has no idea what's going on outside. I'm not a hobbit living in the Shire; I know my country has flaw like everwhere else in the world and I've tasted the bitterness of this world too much for you to ever get. Swimem is right: we have the right to be here and to just wanna give our flag a hug just as much as you do to make an idiot of yourself by using the "F" word all the time, which shows you have a very poor vocabulary fi you can't think of another word instead of using the same one twice. Hope you never decide to be a writer.
I am not on welfare. So, the strong live and the weak die, that's your philosophy?
That's thinking from 10,000 B.C.
You obviously don't believe in progress, or atleast don't know anything about it. You were born in this time period, and your brain can't possibly conceive of anything bigger than that?
Really..."the weak die and the strong shall live on?" Why don't you get out there and start pummeling things with a jawbone?
By the way, I wasn't saying less than 100 people who like the flag, I meant less than 100 of the "God Bless America and nowhere else" crowd who love the flag so dearly.
And by the way, Independence Day was, in reality, July 2nd. Go figure.
There's a difference between buring a fake bush doll and the US flag, one's funny and the other insults everyone who fought and died for that nation and every citizen that flag represents, not just the government.
quote: the flag had some meaning behind it, now its being slowly taken over by the sick freaks how want to wave it next to their crucifixes.
oh no, tough guy, should I go kill myself? Didn't you get your hand out check today you lazy useless waste on the dirty skid mark of society?
I have no crucifix and I wave a flag, I waved it before Bush and I'll be waving long after little boys like you grow up an understand it's not all a conspiracy, it's not all so bad. When you finally get, the weak die and the strong shall live on, it's life, suck it up or stop wasting our time.
You know what the great thing about America is? Those "sick flag waving freaks" have just as much right to be here as you do. And I promise you, there will never be less than 100 people in this nation who use the flag to exhibit their patriotism. As the long as the military and anyone who's ever been touched by them lives.
One of the main manifestations of America's sickness is flag idolatry. These christian conservatives who rant about how America is the greatest thing that Our Lord Jesus Christ ever created, and the borderline-Christian mindless flag-waving, Bush supporters are definatly on the edge of idolatry, they basically worship this midly uninteresting pattern on cloth. While at the time of its conception, the flag had some meaning behind it, now its being slowly taken over by the sick freaks how want to wave it next to their crucifixes. So until we can see the generation that won't have more than about a hundred of these people in the country, the flag will usually be a symbol of evil.
So for now?
Burn mother****er, burn.
And Billy...well, I used to try to argue with you, but you don't understand that language, so I guess I can only tell you to go ****ing kill yourself. Hey, I tried.
A great speech was made in the movie "The American President." Michael Douglas said: “America isn’t easy. America is advanced citizenship. You’ve got to want it bad because it’s going to put up a fight. It’s going to say, you want free speech? Let’s see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil who’s standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country cannot just be a flag. The symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Now show me that. Defend that. Celebrate that in your classrooms. Then you can stand up and sing about the land of the free.”
I am one of those weird people that doesn't fit into a category. I don't always wear 'hippie clothes'. I'll wear the long flowy skirts but with a fitted t-shirt or something. Without a doubt I will always have on Birks or some other type of flipflop, even in the middle of winter. I listen to the Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews, Phish, Ben Harper, and Panic. I am going to Bonaroo. So, yeah I simpathize with the 'hippie far left view.' But I'm also a patriot, and I love my country, and I actually like the government we have now. Some of my friends really don't agree with that at all. But I do not think that flag burning should be made illegal. I believe everyone has the right to speak their mind and they should do so, even if that includes speaking against our government or showing the flag no respect. That's one reason it's great to be an American.
If the flag has holes in it i think it is ok to burn it but i think u should like give it to like a fire department to burn. i would not want to get into truble. u kno just in case. Always, Danielle
quote: what exactly do you call far left? because it seems that anything opposing bush's administration is getting that label slapped onto it, and you've jumped right onto its bandwagon.
yeah I know it sucks...I missed the hippie socialist bandwagon so I had to jump on this one....
billy, maybe this will help: you're a hypocrite, blah blah blah. there, now you have a shorter quote to work with.
what exactly do you call far left? because it seems that anything opposing bush's administration is getting that label slapped onto it, and you've jumped right onto its bandwagon.
don't expect people to be rational with you if your arguments are contradictory to begin with.
caerat3 - i wasn't responding to your "poor flag" quote, i was actually responding more to billy than anyone else. sorry for the confusion.
quote: billy - evidently you have a problem with berkeley's liberal history which includes some of the best speeches and actions for the civil rights movement. stop throwing a tantrum and argue your side. but if you insist on taking such a simplistic stance, then it really is you who should leave since you evidently have lost faith in our constitution and would prefer a society that universally believes and fights for whatever the government tells you to.
how is this for overly simplistic....I heard you say...blah blah blah blah same thing I've already heard blah blah blah boring far left banter blah blah blah my right blah blah blah I have no respect blah blah blah boring boring boring blah blah blah
I never said a thing about your freedom of speech.I said if you can't appreciate this country, leave it until you can. You think you know everything, when both of us know almost nothing about this world, but i obviously know more than your brain could ever handle with the way you've rejected everything you are, whether you like that or not. Swear away, if you want. It's not like i can read it anyway.
