that is also very very true... and im not that religious of a person, but i do believe god does everything for a reason, but i think that if we have the power to find a cure for say aids or better ones for cancer, why should we hold back? if god does everything for a reason, he would have to be giving the person who figures out these cures a reson to do it.. and had to have had some part in helping out with it, so why should we just let these poor people suffer?

but i think the bigger question is sure this technology could mean the end to all of these diseases but should we be messing with all this stuff? if someone contracts a disease or is born with it, it's for a reason, should we really be messing with god's plan?

i agree with you.. but we as humans are oblagated to try new things, and find new cures for desases.. so as much as i do agree with you that we think technology will put an end to all world crises, and it wont, i do think we have to take the chance by testing new things. lets face it.. life is one big risk. you getting out of bed in the morning is taking a chance.. who knows if you will return back to that bed later that night? if we dont try new things, we will never put an end to cancer, or aids, or any world crisis..

I think it's funny that people think technolgy is this wonderful tool that we can use to accomplish miracles. The only thing that you've sad that i agree with, is that it is POWER. It is power, power that if used in the wrong way can destroy. How can i explain...like cars for example. They are a great invention right? I mean without them our economy would collapse, but look at the devistating toll it has taken on our enviornment. These consoquences were never believed to happen when cars were first invented. And i belive similar consequences will arise with new inventions. Plus have you ever seen Gattaca? (with JudeLaw and Uma Thurman, Ethan Hawk)I suggest you do. It tackles the same issue of messing with DNA and other things. As much as i am in awe of what we can accomplish in medicine and how we can prevent horrible diseases, deleting and adding chromosomes could never just be used like that/ it will go to the extreme.It's human nature to test our boundaries and soon the perimeter that we originally set will be pushed and pushed. I wish it was that simple!!!

You're right. we have so much power we just need to use it the right way. Like you said, changing the DNA of your fetus is not about choosing the perfect number of girls and boys in a family, choosing the colour of eyes or the colour of their hair it's about protecting our children against deadly diseases and female or male related hereditary diseases. We can use the power we have for such amazing things but don't you find the media is twisting it around into all the bad things that our knowledge can bring us? As well should we really be messing with what we should be letting God handle? Our knowledge and technological advancements are so amazing are we really endangering ourselves?
