It has been already more than 50 years since the Trade embargo placed by the US against Cuba has occurred. Dont you think its time that the embargo should end? Even the UN last December voted 182 in favour 4 agaisnt and 1 abstention. So even the United Nations is against it. US, it is time to stop the embargo!!

Evidently if the US has chosen not to lift the embargo it has imposed on Cuba, there surely is a good reason for it and i suspect it would not be in America's interest to do so...just yet. With regards to the UN-the Unites States, does not feel the need to adhere to their policies/recommendations, with certain exceptions of course. Therefore the fact that there was a vote, does not mean America will follow suit Wink

Wouldn't the US want to avoid trade with any country against it? Especially if they would start blowing us up (which is what Cuba could have done in the Cold War)?

I am about to sound absolutely brilliant, but I really do not understand how Cuba being communist is a threat to our national security. I really am saying I don’t understand, not trying to argue.

Some things I really am passionate about but this I have too little understanding of. America is one of the big guys, so even though a consumer this country dictates the prices. I have no idea as to what America imported from Cuba (besides sugar, but then it is grown here and in the Caribbean…), but if the things can be imported from other places, what is a reason the US would need to end the embargo?

America does not really bother to consider what the rest of the world thinks, as I see it, so decisions of the UN are minor factors in its actions.

A great many people mistake opinions for thoughts.

I was being sarcastic about the filthy commies thing but Demoracy is better than communism hell anyhting is better and any one who isn't one knows that.

still the embargo will stay as cuba has been and still may be a threat to US and international security that's why they have an embargo.

dont forget most americans are pumped up on anti communist propoganda as well as pro american propoganda and therefore seem to hate the very word communist as though 'they' came and killed their families.

Well Cuba is doing ok, its health care system is fantastic and cuba produces a lot of intellectuals as well as sportsmen. America wont lift the embargo because they would look like idiots as cuba still stands in the face of the american ideal.

Who gives a flying shit what the UN thinks they have no power

The embargo stays cause 1. Fidel's still in power so 2. Cuba is still a bunch of filthy filthy commies

so if they want the embargo gone all they have do is off the fat guy or hell wait a few years he'll die soon and then they can go back to whatever Cuba had before
