I had a smile across my face today while driving up 19th ave in SF. Hundreds of protestors against gay marriage lined the streets with signs against gay marriage. I am so happy somebody finally stood up and protested against gay marriage. It was great seeing as these people. I am kinda on the fence about gay marriage, but it's nice to finally hear the conservative side of things.

I totally disagree with this. Man and Man or Woman and Woman should be able to get married, or at least get a civil union so they have all of the rights that married couples have. Its just like saying you can't marry a man/and or woman (depending on your sex) because they're unable to have children. Marriage and unions are about love, and i think that its against our constitution to take away the right for them to marry. I live in Oregon, and this year a law is on the ballot to ban gay marriage, and I find it disgusting. Conservative straight people shouldn't have any influence on a gay's life.

Hey if we are going to have a debate let us keep our biggotry out of it shall we? Hmm? Not all hicks are the same and the term hick is just as disgusting as the term ****** (that probably got blanked out but it is another word for a black person).

If we went on our natural desires, marriage, nor relationships, would exist. So marriage was simply an invention of man or God or whatever.

Man invented marriage to honor God and keep their wives from playing around with the neighbor man. Ok, lets examine the idiocy of your statement.
"I know that you probably wont belive in God"
"a majority the Americans belive in God."
Ha. Ha. Hahaha. Ok, so you're right; I dont believe in God. But saying that "you probably wont" yet "a majority" does... You're kind of digging yourself a hole.

But marrige is between a man and a woman and I think it is really gross seeing homosexual partners.

Ok, I know how you feel. There are so many people forcing your eyelids open and chaining your head in the direction of two same-sex people kissing. Right-o.

What really gets to me are the nasty screen names young children come up with.

'Marrige'? 'Belive'? What are you two doing, rationing your vowels in case you need to type 'heterosexuals are superior' one thousand times?

I was wondering myself why she posted that whole spew about the rules. If you think I broke one then cite it don't read me the entire YN constitution and I am sure many people here would agree. Secondly if you would like another statistic over thirty states do not protect gays from discrimination in the workplace based on sexual orientation. I.E. if you tell your boss you are gay and lose your job over it there is nothing you can do about it! And Florida happens to be one of those states.

Ciao

YouthNOISE - Bulletin Board Rules of Play

YouthNOISE is all about making yourself heard, and the boards are one of the many places on the site where you can do just that. You can discuss your pet issues, experiences you have, and the NOISE you make lending a hand, fundraising and speaking out. So while we encourage you to post what's on your mind, we're aware that every once in a while, some people just have to go and be spoilers. Not only is poor board etiquette really annoying, it's grounds to get you kicked off the site. In order to keep the boards safe and clean, here's a detailed description of things NOT to do on the NOISEboards:

Posting personal information. Seriously, don't give out real names, phone numbers, addresses, etc. - yours or anyone else's - on the boards. Not a good idea in cyberspace in general.

Harassing or threatening another NOISEmaker. Please don't cyberstalk, spam, or send unwanted messages. We don't know why you'd want to, but please don't bash another member's race, heritage, culture, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc. We're about tolerance.

Posting, transmitting, promoting, distributing or facilitating the distribution of any content that is obscene, sexually explicit, vulgar or pornographic, or soliciting sexually explicit photographs or text from other NOISEmakers. Keep it clean.

Posting or transmitting photographic images that are violently graphic

Disrupting the flow of bulletin board areas with vulgar language, abusiveness, repeatedly submitting the same content, explicitly sexual content, off-topic content or other conduct that may disrupt normal activities. It's not shocking, it's boring.

Impersonating another NOISEmaker, YouthNOISE staff member, or anyone else.

Attempting to get or steal a password, other account information, or other private information from another NOISEmaker; harvesting e-mail addresses or other information.

Posting unsolicited ads and/or promotional material or any other forms of solicitation including but not limited to mail fraud and pyramid schemes.

Posting anywhere on the site, or in any way creating, transmitting, transmitting links to, promoting, distributing or facilitating the distribution of content that is untrue, illegal, libelous, harmful, threatening, harassing, abusive, racially or ethnically offensive, hate propaganda, defamatory, or objectionable. If you aren't sure about something that you want to say or do, ask an adult, friend and/or relative first.

Signatures violating Rules of Play listed above will be removed. Continual removal of signatures will result in post moderation*.

Avatars must not contain images of users under 18 years old, racially or ethnically offensive images, images containing hate propaganda and illegal or inappropriate images. Continual removal of avatars will result in post moderation*.
* Post moderation means moderator will review posts before going live.

EG's questioning response to your dumb statement brings up a good point: there's nothing wrong with Scandinavia. Those countries have the best healthcare systems, great education systems, and high taxes, but also long life expectancies and the happiest people. I know a Norwegian guy and he says it's ridiculous we use that argument, since Norwegians are still pretty conservative when it comes to their sex lives and traditional when it comes to marriage. Apparently the fact their marriage rate has dropped has not plunged the country into chaos; and it was dropping way before their version of same-sex marriage was made legal. They don't even have "gay marriage"; just a similar partnering that gives same-sex couples the same tax breaks. Holland is the only country in the world that allows gay marriage.

Exactly why I also asked myself "Whats wrong with Scandinavia?"

Gays and lesbians are persecuted by society already. They have fewer rights as a citizen of the United States simply because they love people of the same gender. What harm will come from gay marriage? It doesn't mean that Christians have to accept homosexuality. It simply gives thousands of people rights that they don't have right now.

On the other hand, part of living in America is free speech. Free speech means having to listen to someone you don't agree with. Since America is never going to be one way or another on any subject, listening to someone voicing opposite to your opinion is just part of the freedom package.

If God is the one who said that marriage was between one man and one women, then why are there several men mentioned in the bible that have two or three wives? Is that not a sin then?

::smiles malevolently:: Well well. I have to say I never thought I would see this one again. First off going toward the tangent of God creating marriage scientists have found evidence possibly disproving the theory of the big bang. Under the big bang theory the universe should be expanding at a constant velocity...theoretically. Well the rate of expansion has increased. So you've grasped the idea. Con-gratulations. Now multiply it by infinity and take it to the depth of forever, and you still will have barely a glimpse of the contradictions of the bible (I'll thank Brad Pitt for that revised quote). Now as for...what was it again...ah yes

quote:
i think being apart of homosexual activity is disgusting

It is really rather simple...don't do it! It's not like homosexuals are out having sex on street corners forcing you to watch them while you buy your groceries! Get over it. Even if we never ever ever got the right to marry we would still love eachother and have sex and live our lives happily ever after. BTW I was looking at some supreme court cases regarding homosexuality at the supreme court's website www.oyez.org

There was a case in which a man was commiting an act of homosexual sodomy with his lifetime partner in the state of Georgia in the privacy of his own bedroom. A Georgia police officer spotted them and arrested them both! And the supreme court held in favor of the state!! There are some states in which privacy is totally obsolete because other people think something isn't right. There are over 20 states that have laws preventing intercourse in any position other than missionary and it must be between a man and a woman including the District of Columbia. What happened to the right of privacy? Personally it is about damn time that the government got out of our bedrooms and homes and took their little peeping Tom officers off the streets (because you know that is what he was doin) and let us live our lives in our own way. That is one of the rights afforded to all of mankind according to the constitution, or more directly the supreme court.
