Many "vacation regions" in Mexico are experiencing alarming increases in tourist deaths. The US & Mexican governments are aware of the seriousness of the situation but continues to keep it quiet. Vacations should be fun and not destroy your life or devastate families exceeding "Beyond Your Expectations".Many citizens' lives are being stolen by lack of safety & security. Since the governments are not saving lives by implementing laws/sanctions then we need to call for justice. A coalition of victims' families has formed with the purpose of saving lives. Lives can be saved by sharing facts and experiences of horrifying vacation tragedies. We believe it is the right, not privilege for all citizens' to be informed of facts and truths prior to planning any vacation outside the United States. Mexico diligently attempts to hide the alarming increases of tourist deaths and rather than resolving the growing problems they choose to entice tourists via promotions and price. Despite the aggressive "Beyond Your Expectations" the Mexican government and tourism industry truly does exceed the expectations of many travelers by the lack of safety, security and the inability to control crimes. When reading the family stories you can be the judge. Justice for the victims and/or families never prevails. Mexico has launched their most aggressive tourism promotion "Beyond Your Expectations" for 2008. Over the past few years the number of tourist deaths in the "well-known regions" continues to escalate at alarming numbers. In fact, Mexico Tourism accounted for 30% of all non-natural causes of American citizens' deaths in 2007. Sadly, Canadian citizens' deaths are comparable.
The hardship and pain of having an 6-year-old sibling killed on vacation by negligence is incomprehensible. The profound sadness and loss can never be verbalized. The dynamics of what was once a happy family has changed significantly.
We ask that you share this information with everyone you know--"Together We Can Make A Difference". Google Brent Midlock for detailed information regarding the multitude of family tragedies. What you will read will shock you!

That aside, the US government should do more to protect its citizens while they're in other countries. But what exactly could be done? It's not as if we can afford to give every American tourist an armed bodyguard. The most important thing is that people be more aware of the possible danger of certain destinations. I mean, if you go to Central America thinking you're not going to run into any trouble, you need to think again.
I agree with you. Maybe when an American tourist is killed in another country, we bomb the hell out of it. That is what we used to do, and no one kidnapped us. It became cool again when Jimmy Carter the moron did nothing to save our hostages in Iran.

The US government should be standing up for tourist more. There was a time when no one killed an American because of the consequences. Now, nothing is done. This is wrong.
