But he quite clearly agrees with it to at least some extent, or he would probably not have posted it, or likely even recieved it, since it looks to be a forward from someone else who thought he'd like it. I'd like to see an original source for this, to see if it was actually written by "Dr. A. Shorrosh" and not someone simply bent on building credibility for their prejudices.

And B2: Nativist is the term generally used for groups that fought to keep America "pure" from immigrants...though most of them were descended from immigrants. That's where the KKK originally came from. And the fact that a religion is not a race is irrelevant. I think her point was that the rhetoric is the same, just substituting a religion for a race.

every religion has its good points and its bad points. devout christians are just as bad as devout muslims, and devout jews, and so on.

really, the only people who can be truely american, in the religious sence, are white protestants. this country started out racist and sexist. even the different religions didn't get along real well. but as time past, smart, open minded people appeared and raised the question, "why?" why do we hate each other? sure, our beleifs are different. our skin is different. men and women are built differently. but we're all capable of the same things.

One might as well say that Catholics cannot be American because their loyalty is to the Pope, and that they are against the American government because it allows women to have abortions (so far) and it was founded on Protestant Christian values (not entirely true). One could say the same thing about the Jews as well, or any other group that is not white Protestant Christian. This argument was used by nativist groups like the KKK during the 19th century against immigrants from, say, Ireland or Italy or Poland. It's interesting (and sad) that after one hundred years such xenophobic and racist arguments are still being used.
