They're not pro-abortion; they're pro-choice, meaning that they think the pregnant woman should have the right to choose.

1.The ideas of liberals have existed since Locke's 2nd treatise, in 1690.
2.The Democratic Party has existed since 1800, and the GOP since 1854.
3.You just proved yourself a racist by assuming someone is black based on your belief she's stupid.
4.The Civil Rights movement was a liberal movement, lead by democratic socialists such as MLK.
5.Ditto for women's rights; substitute Susan B. Anthony for MLK.
6.Amendments to the constitution allowing non-landowners, women, people of color, and 18-20 year olds to vote are all products of liberal action.
7.The first major opposition to censorship in the western world came from J.S. Mill, a stalwart liberal. Conservatives who oppose censorship simply do not embrace every conservative principle.

looking at your number 1, the existence or idea of liberals didn't exist in the 1800's. Neither did the Republican or Democratic parties. You were either a federalist, anti-federalist, Confederate, or a Yankee.

Without liberals:
1. There would still be slavary
2. Women still wouldn't have any rights.
3. There would be no diversity what so ever in America.
4. Nobody would get to vote (except the white man of course.)
5. The rich would get richer and the poor would get poorer.
6. There would be no Civil Rights movement.
7. There would still be book burnings and alot of other forms of censorship.
8. There would be no Rock n roll, rap, or anythink that isn't "christain" music
9. There would be no change.

Congress would've overridden his veto if they were actually liberal and had increased education spending. But that's something they didn't do. Get the facts straight; the criticism of No Child Left Behind stemmed from the fact that the laws mandated so many news things without any increased funds.

Bush not favoring allowing the average American to own nukes doesn't make him a liberal. He opposed the assault weapon ban.

Free trade is a more conservative or libertarian policy, and greed is universal, so the point about free trade means nothing.
