You know what every country does have it's own problems. America isn't any different, but to burn a flag is wrong. Leave it alone who cares who he sleeps with. Clinton was a good president and people only remember what he did in his bedroom. I mean come on he was set up anyways. No I wasn't, it was directed at those who feel Flag Burning was given to them as a right. It was not and if it were not for military tradition...there might be some pretty hefty laws against people who do burn flags. And I would support them fully.

I have to admit.. I am opposed to flag burning. There are worse things you could do to a flag, I guess, but what kind of person desecrates the flag of their own country? Piece of cloth you say? It is the symbolism that I'm speaking of. The American dream, though elusive, has very much significance to me. I think this country has countless issues, but God knows I would rather be here than a lot of other places.

It embodies the American dream, and to burn that is burning everything America stands for. I have only the utmost respect for the American flag and it makes me sick to see ANY harm come to our beloved flag.

Now do any of you even know why it is not illegal to burn flags?

I'll tell you why, it is proper military disposal of a Flag to have it burned by an officer or other elected official. It has nothing to do with you little babies who need to act out to get our attention because you lack reasoning skills to debate on a public forum. To make it illegal would take away that tradition, it has nothing to do with any of your rights.

To me the greatest symbol of freedom is a burning flag. It represents our right to peacefully protest, or petition, our government, one of the most important rights we have, a right that sets our country apart from others. It represents the right of the minority to voice an opinion, however unpopular it may be. "Burning the flag", in a literal and figurative sense may be the most patriotic thing one can do. Our government is supposed to be run by the people; when we protest an injustice or flaw in the workings of our country we are doing our patriotic duty to help govern ourselves. Removal of the liberty to do so would be the un-American thing to do.
