I decided to do something out of the norm on this website and post about GOOD things muslims do.

The public opinion of Saudi princes, among most people, is that they buy fancy cars, act like pimps, swim in pools of oil, and occasionaly dine with Osama bin Ladin. Im sure you guessed by now im gonna show otherwise.

Prince Al-Walid bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud is a member of the Saudi Royal Family. Although he does not have an official political position, he is known for speaking out against Saudi traditionalism. He advocates womens rights and hired the first female airline pilot in Saudi Arabia. He also advocates reforms to elections. He has also critized operation of the Saudi Aramco oil company.

He is widely known for working to bridge the gap between the east and the west. He does this through education. Prince bin Talal funds the development of American studies centers in Eastern communities, and the development of Eastern studies centers in American communities.

With the intro aside, now it gets interesting.

Following the 9/11 attacks, Prince Walid bin Talal offered the city of New York $10 million for relief efforts. His offer was rejected by the Mayor Rudy Giuliani becuase Prince Walid bin Talal suggested that the attacks were a sign that the US "should re-examine its policies in the Middle East and adopt a more balanced stand toward the Palestinian cause." So the money went to the American University of Cairo. (its hard to bridge the gap when the other side doesnt want to, after all, all he did was make a suggestion about US foriegn policy)

In 2005, bin Talal donated $20 million to each harvard university and georgetwon university in the states to fund Muslim-Chirstian Understanding.

In the same year, bin Talal donated $20 million to the Louvre Museum in France, its largest donation ever.

Also in 2005, following the earthquake in Pakistan, he donate $8 billion in the form of goods and cash to support relief and reconstruction efforts, as well as $2 million to invest in Pakistan.

In 2006, bin Talal donated $10 million to Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

These are just highlights.

In Lebanon, for the last several years Prince Walid bin Talal has been donating to several organizations. This ranges from education centers, to hospitals, enviornmental projects, centers for the mentally challenged, centers for handicaps, orphanages, projects against cancer, and the list goes on.

Theres a lot more to post about but it would take me all night.

I hope this helps couter-act the mainstream view of Saudi Princes. I tried to be as objective as possible, stating only facts, except for the 9/11 incident where i couldnt help myself.

Let me just state that im not generalizing that all Princes are generous and good hearted, im just showing that there are good muslims, and specifically good Saudi Muslism.

Does anyone have any new news about Prince Alwaleed? I don't see anything posted since my last enquiry, and am curious to know more about him and his family. Thank you.

It pisses me off that I live in a country full of retards.

We have so much oppertunities to be intelligent individuals and go on to college and yet the majority of the population doesn't even give a shit.

People used to not even be able to get books in the world before the printing press, they were considered precious objects to treasure. Now we have TV and the internet and all that most Americans use them for is to watch fox reality channel and porn.

Hopefully things will get better. I sense the tides changing.

He doesnt just donate, he is devotedly involved in his works.

Saudi Arabia is a monarchy with several ministers. It sort of resembles the monarchy in the UK but the monarch in the KSA has much more power.

By the way, the first female minister, Nora bint Abdullah al-Fayez, has been appointed in Saudi Arabia just this week. Progress without military or even foriegn intervention, anybody taking notes?

You're right Wolfie, the US can be a very stressful place to live in. I spent a few months there and felt it to be unbarable. Thats not something you can apologize for because its not anybodies fault. This stress, like you said, is one of the factors that contribute to american peoples appearance of "lack of care". People on my side of the world need to understand that this is not just arrogance, and should understand the situation the american people are in.

Also the American people should also understand there position. When the West sneezes the East catches a cold. The US is the leading nation in the West, and the world. The American People are among the few to have the privelage of having the capability to strongly influence the actions of its government. Use that capability.

Is saudi arabia ruled by a monarchy? kind of sad that I don't know, being one of the lucky intelligent Americans. I always thought they had some sort of prime minister of some sort.

That's good he donates a lot of his fortune. I would too if I had billions of dollars. heck even if I had millions.

I believe that both the united states and the middle east need to improve their diplomatic techniques. because neither understands the other. lol

Yes the US does come off as extremely arrogant and yes a lot of the citizens are. But people need to understand that it is because most individuals were raised around prejudice and stereotypes. Also, there are a lot of people in the nation who just don't give a shit. We're so busy with our daily lives, our jobs, schoolwork, children that things just fall through the cracks, like global policy and diplomancy, for instance. lol. Perhaps that is why we are so hated by others. A lot of us have a decent amount of money, but along with that comes a lot of stress. In America, suicide is one of the top ten causes of death, while in third world countries it is not even in the top 20. I believe that this is because of the stress and mental strain put on Americans in order to survive in our own nation's society that is slowly beginning to collapse. We all have so many worries, local and national that we forget about the rest of the world. I am truly sorry my country and its citizens behave the way that they do, but all we can do is try. And unless other nations are going to step up to the plate with us, nothing will change. In this increasingly global world we, as in all countries, must acknowledge each other and work together in order to bring peace and prosperity to all of Earth's residents.

Who knows perhaps someday, we will simply have a president of Earth, lol.

No its not anti-muslim. Its a good website that allows all to express their individual views. The website is neutral, but some of the members have a limited view of muslims and im just trying to expand that view.
