Ok. I would like to say that before Darwin died he became a christian and that evolution is against the second law of thermophysics.

Goddess worshipping began decreasing (probably) around the time the Greeks established the first patriarchal system of government.
Then Judaism came around (which is obviously based on patriarchy), and monotheism (a belief in one god). Then they labeled that god as a "he" and thus, the world of patriarch government really begins!
So, women lost their 'power' and became the underdogs, more or less. Historians believe once the story of Adam and Eve was added to the Old Testament, that kind of finished off the one Goddess's religion, and eventually everyone was converted to Judaism, or was killed or something.

The questions aren't a big deal, soccerchick. but if you want, it'd probably be easier just to IM or Email me.

rito: lol! But wait a minute... How come now women don't have as much power as they did then & how come they don't 'worship' that Goddess any more? If you can answer those questions that would be great... & I'm sorry to keep asking you questions, but I was just wondering...

no problem...but, a long long long time ago, (in a galaxy far far away...kidding) most people DID worship a single Goddess, and women had alot more 'power' in society (they were equal).
On top of that, the Goddess's primary symbol was a serpent (which is probably why the tempter in the garden of eden is a serpent). Makes me think of how much the religions like each other! hahaha.

actually, Soccerchick, i think that when people substitute "he" in for "god", it's because a man was sent as god (jesus...but this really only applies if you believe in the trinity. i think). But i've been told (in ccd, and such) that god "is beyond all human categories"....so i think the pronoun is to just make the writing more readable or something Wink

I am an athiest because,I am being raised one,and because I have a very hard time believing that out there some where is a man running the world. And speaking of "man running the world" it really bugs me that it's a man not a woman!! Sorry,it just does! I can't explain everything like people who have a god can,we live in a mysterious world in a mysterious univers. I appreciate that there are things I can't explain and I look forward to trying find the explanations. Also,if there was a one true god,why are there so many religions that are so different? I can't really explain it,it's too late and I'm tired!!

Matt (an athiest friend) wishes to say....

I'm athiest because I believe in our science. I don't think there is a special afterlife for humans....I mean, a leaf just decomposes, and thats that. Why should we be any different? No gods or anything can control my life, i can think on my own!!!!

Me (Currently a christian)...

I believe in some sort of higher power cause i think there are things we just don't need to know now. We should do good here because that's whats gonna get this world to where it needs to be. We should not do good "to get into heaven", as if thats your only incentive. I think people are responsible for miracles, as well as murder. We can do stuff on our own too Wink

Personally, i do not rely on a book for reasons. I believe there is enough evidence to suggest the strong possibility (if not probability) in our science. Anyone who relys on a book is, in my opinion, cheating themselves out of a real reason.

I guess I'm an atheist. I haven't devoted any time to thinking about whether there is a god or not. I don't see how it really affects me. Whether or not there is a supreme being doesn't matter to me.

Because religion is a farce and dooms this planet to enslavement.

I wrote my last thesis for my Philosophy class about Religion, but the paper was way to long to post on here. The reasons I found was that Religion has way too many logic errors.

All my life I have been raised unreligiously. I believe people have the right to freedom of religion, however I choose not to belong to an official religion. Religion, many times, leads to prejudices. Also people abuse religion many times in war, such as the terrorists, to justify their actions. I respect the views of my friends, but unfortunately all of the world does not seem to feel the same way. This has been demonstrated over and over during the many times when Christians have persecuted people of Jewish faith, or when Christians persecuted people of the Muslim faith, or vise versa.
Love,
Laura

I think having something to believe in is good, but for me I can't depend on that...
I don't believe in God because I think there can't be one person(or anything) who can take control of the whole world
In my opinion, evrything goes right with the balance,if there's only one single power to save us,this world will be different
It's like,we do things for a reason, and our actions keep the balance. We are living for each other without knowing. That's jst how i imagine though
I know many things are going wrong right now,we should try to think about the interger, that makes us better...

I don't believe in anything anymore so What am I? NOTHING? I mean it's not that I don't believe in God, well, I really don't know what I believe in. It's just that I'm trying not to think about these things because it only seems to confuse me like it's confusing me now. Yup, I'm blocking it out it for a while. I probably will get back to it though. You never know, I might change and feel like finding the answers again and figuring out things on my own again. But for now I'm just going to lay off this subject for a while.

Also, I'm kind of mad because I'm sick again and I have a strong feeling something is wrong once again with me and I really had hope that everything will be ok with me this time around. I mean I still have hope. Maybe me being sick is just normal, nothing is wrong and it will pass soon. Hopefully! I'm still hoping.

I'm sorry but I really CAN'T think of God when I'm like this, I'm really sorry but I can't.

Well Bye N Have a nice day
