Since the year 1962, the soverign nation of Cuba has recieved an economical embargo trying to make the President Fidel Castro to quit its position as the President of Cuba. But the country is the one being afected since they still have cars from thr 60's and constantly live in a state of close famine. Is this right? With lots of sadness I can say that my country, Venezuela, is the main exporter of products to Cuba, making it dictator still be in power.

Does the foot have to be attached? If not, the possibilities are endless.

Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the roar of its many waters. Frederick Douglass

The law is that if a foot of any Cuban citizen touches American land, they can stay if they want to. But, if they touch it with a hand or are just in a boat, they get sent back.

If the American people reallly wnted to help the Cubans, why do they reject them when they are arriving to Florida? Arent they infavor of the Cuban People? Do you think that making a man that escaped from Cuba be returned there? Will he be treated correctly?

I agree but I don't agree with you.

They're still not doing wonderful in the economic side.

But, yes, I believe that he has been pretty good to the country.

NO. THE EMBARGO IS REDICULOUS. IT ONLY PUNISHES THE CUBAN PEOPLE.

You can say Castro is evil all you want. You can say communism is evil all you want. But the fact remains that Castro turned Cuba from a third-world country with minimal education, healthcare, and a massive poorclass that was more like a slave class to foreign companies into one that now has free healthcare for everyone in the country and a literacy rate higher than the literacy rate in the U.S.

He may be a dictator; but he is a fairly benevolent and well liked one. There is a lot of censorship and government control there; but for most of the Cuban people this is not a large concern, having homes and food are much more important and Castro provided those.

What the hell does an embargo do? Do you really think the Cuban people are gonna overthrow Castro because of an embargo? No, so then what is the purpose? To "punish" Castro? Well the only thing it does is hurt the Cuban economy, and that hurts the Cuban people a lot more than it hurts Castro.

You are completely right. But isn't democracy about accepting what the people want? If the people in Cuba was really against Fidel, why did the attack in the Bay of Pigs fail?

communism is a simple excuse for a dictatorship which is what Castro has managed to do. The US is against communism wouldnt it look wierd if they did deals with Castro. In a certain way you can say that Castro looked for it and he should deal with teh consequences of his country living in an age behind. but I can say taht when Castro leaves, Cuba might become a strong country and will have no need to rely on Chavez.
