geminiangel521, mkt16a17, and ComradeSmurf, you guys should've gone to the webpage before you started saying that Jews for Jesus is a contradiction of terms. It's not a difficult concept to understand, and it is very obvious that you didn't take the time to do so. The distinction Jews for Jesus makes that you obviously missed was that being a Jew is both cultural and religious. Therefore, you can be a cultural Jew who has other religious beliefs, i.e., Jesus. Jews for Jesus. Not too complicated, was that? Honestly people, do at least a little bit of research before posting, because your uneducated opinions are useless for many reasons:
a) They can be offensive, even when you didn't mean them to be.
b) They cannot spawn additional conversation because they are based on inaccurate facts.
c) They are tiresome to listen to.

actually Messianic Judaism makes perfect sense

You described Orthodox Jews, and there are threee types of jew : Modern (contemporary), Orthodox (following everything exactly as it was done long ago) and Messianic, which can be orthodox or contemporary. They follow the basic Jewish rituals, but they believe Jesus was the Messiah, not just another prophet.
Christians, on the other hand, don't follow Jewish traditions. They have their own. The thing they have in common is that they both believe Jesus is the Way Smile

So it amy sound funny but it's no oxymoron

They talked at my church a couple years ago. It was actually pretty touching..most stories in church are, but it was. The Jews for Jesus guy told about an old woman who had lived through the Holocaust and spit on him when she first heard of the Jews for Jesus program, but then she went to one, and she changed her mind.blah blah. It's great that Jews are accepted Christ, but the name is very confusing.

Eh.. just to make this less confusing:

Christians believe in everything that Jews do except for the fact that Christians believe Jesus was the son of God; Jesus = the Messiah.

Jews believe that Jesus was simply a prophet, but not the son of God. They don't believe the Messiah has come.

So "Jews for Jesus" is a blatant contradiction to the two beliefs.

But Messianic Jew believe in Jesus.. So it's possible. Blending of the faiths, apparently.

ok, lemme explain whats so funny
YOU'RE A JEW FOR JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!HAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAA Big Grin
okay i'm sorry. i'll be serious now Smile
well u c the point where Jews and Christians seperated was when Jesus came along and said that he was the messiah. the people who didn't believe it are the Jews, the people who did are the Christians. so if you are a Jew for Jesus, you are a Christian. just because you eat only kashruit(do you even know what that is?)and don't use electricity on Saturdays or Friday nights and don't even carry things and always wear a kippah and don't cut your hair and your mom wears a handkerchief and is actually bald but just wears a wig, if you believe in Jesus you aren't Jewish. anyways, I really doubt that you do all that.
