Let's say that we cut the military budget to just enough to keep the National Guard on hand to help out with floods and fires.

Let's say that we close down our military bases all over the world and bring the troops home, increase our foreign aid and drop all the trade sanctions against everybody.

I suppose that in your fantasy world this would create a utopian world where everybody would live in peace. After all, the great monster, the United States of America, the cause of all the world's trouble would have disbanded it's horrible military and certainly all the other countries of the world would follow suit. After all, they only arm themselves to defend their countries from the mean old U.S.A.

Yes I agree with you on the grounds that actor’s jobs don't deal with reality. But that is only their job, a person’s job is not what makes a person, I hope you believe this.

As for not taking anything personally,
of course I take the September 11th personally. But in order to make rational decisions, I believe that one must not let their emotions interfere with their decision making process, or blind them to other information that might be what they don't want to hear.
I don't question that many of you have good intentions when you are supporting Bush's decision to go to war with Iraq. What I do question is Bush's intentions. Sure ultimately the outcome out weighs the reasons, but I would hate to think that we declared war on a country for reasons other then what Bush INC is saying.

No actor deals with "reality" on a day-to-day basis. They deal with substituting reality with a well-performed act.

If I watch "Providence" for instance on t.v., I don't want to see Mike Farrell there and be thinking about, oh let's see, is he for or against the war? I was diversion. I want to be entertained. And if someone opposes my point of view too drastically, then I and others will not watch at all, and their careers will go down the tubes and they won't have any money.

I don't care how much actors make or don't make, and I am very much satisfied with my profession and my earnings. But it is not the almighty buck that makes me happy.

First Off.....most of you that have posted are probably under the age of 25...meaning that you have yet to see the world out of the US and into counties of the Middle East and South East Asia. What about them deems that some how they aren't in reality, what because they earn a lot more money then you. What in your life makes you the great judge of reality, maybe because you aren't well off? Well if you use this angle it could also come back to bite you in behind. It easily opens you to the argument that because they came from money, they had better education. I'm sorry but if this is your reasoning, you’re the one who needs to get in touch with "reality". I've never understood this whole idea that actors and stars some how live in another reality. What I see it as is you are putting a label on a person that in many cases you’re jealous of. What you are really saying is “because you don't agree with me some how that makes you not in touch with reality". What aspect of a truck drivers life makes him more touch or somebody in whatever city in Georgia, or a farmer.
