Vegetarianism is just silly. Why not eat meat? It gives you protein, builds muscles, and makes you more healthy. Why do I eat meat? Thier good! They have a excellent taste. Even if I didn't eat any animal products, animals are still going to be killed anyway. Why not enjoy the food and live life to the fullest?
Wow, vegans that have nothing to do with any animal products? You have to respect that! Leather, milk, eggs . . . there are so many things! It always amazes me. I once tried to be a vegetarian because I agreed that it was wrong, but then my dad started bugging me by saying things like, "Kristina, eat your chicken. We already bought it and cooked it. Lol, he guilted me out of it, but I have 100% respect for people who believe it is wrong. I try my hard to avoid meat, but my mom's reply on the subject is always, "Until you can cook, you eat what I cook."
Some people argue, "Well, animals eat other animals. Thats what we are doing." And I agree to it to an EXTENT. Animals DO eat other animals, but they also do not have the ability to reason and decide for themselves. Animals are not canibals because they choose to be. They eat meat because it is their nature.
Of course animals have feelings; the real questions is hwether a chicken's happiness or mine is more important. I say mine because I'm smarter and thus capable of feeling more happiness at a time. And since I'll live longer if we both die of natural causes, the greater happiness I can feel at once can be experienced over my whole life. But since I'm veggie for health reasons this is really just a philosophical thing. I'll live longer and experience even more happiness by letting the chickens live too.
its very interesting that you'd mention how you think that it's stupid that you can't eat skittles or starbursts because it contains gelatin(cow bone residue, and horse skin). During the mad cow disease outbreak in UK, the candy "Mambo"( which has trace amounts of gelatin, and glycerine) contained the disease, which made several British people sick.
so maybe watchin wut you eat, is helpful afterall. I'm sure the people who came down with the disease will read the ingredients in their food from now on
animals don't have feeling huh? trying telling that to my dog who cries when we can't play with her or when she accidently got her paw slammed in the door when she was a tiny puppy (my bro did it when she stuck her paw in the door as he was closing it). try telling that to my little rattie (r.ip. to her) when the dog accidently ripped a chunk out of her tail and my rat screamed for two or three days. or when my rabbit get a claw clipped below the nail quick. they all make sounds of pain.
and genetically modified foods aren't good for you. they combined things that aren't meant to be together to create super apples or tomato hybrids. regular food distributed properly should suffice. how hard is it for the oh let's see 10% of the world with all the money and access to everything including medicine to say hey we can help people out- so let's distribute to the other 90% of the world.
i've tried 3 previous times in the past couple of years to go veggie. now i'm on my 4th and final attempt but everyone else in my family eats meat. before i tried slowly weaning myself; this time i went cold turkey (tofu?). so does my circle. but i found a way around it for me to it- if we cook anything with meat, i make food for myself or if it's a big dish i'll just pick the meat out of my portion. now why do i do it- as a personal challenge to see if i can. after that, it won't matter cause i'll be past the hurdle stage i believe it'll no longer be strange for me to go meatless. also i realized how hypocritical i was to really like farm animals but still eat them. i don't know- maybe one day i'll try veganism but right now that won't work for varying reasons (but i really should try to get more organic foods- too bad they cost more). and when i found out how much resources were wasted on producing food for mostly fast food restaurants while i just finished working ion schools where kids relied on the free breakfast and lunch programs to eat, i got really upset. we could be using certain resources to feed people. there's enough food produced for everyone in the world just about to not be hungry but it doesn't get distributed or gets thrown out because it doesn't look pleasing to the eye. and i can save some money on not eating meat (i can even learn to make my own bulk mixes for future purposes) and use the money i save to donated to food banks or something like that. so i got some global, social things going there too on why i went veggie.
im, a vegetarian. but i think its a stupid idea that i cant eat gelatin and lecitan, stuff that are in starburts and skittles.. stuff like that. my dad brought me into a religion and i was forced to be a vegetarian. but when theres a bbq with my friends, i just go out and eat chicken or something. its really not a big deal about eating meat. people just make it seem big. how about if we walk into a jungle or something? animals are just gonna jump us and eat us. i dont think it makes a differnce.
I don't get mad at ppl becuse they eat meat!!! I just think it's not so nice!!! and no animal in the worlds gonna eat me!!!!! i'm gonna get shot by someone (according to my friend i am) lol so there. i'm not mad at anyone just...............
First off, let me say that I'm a bit split on Vegetarianism.
However, I've noticed that with most vegetarians, while they can say all they want about "animal rights", their motivations are completely different.
It's a control thing, even an attention thing, for a lot of them. Maybe most of them. Typical thing in a family, from what I've seen, is one kids decides to "go vegetarian" usually between 15 and 20. Now, the whole family has rearrange their habits around them. From how the family shops, to how they cook, to how clean they keep the stove and grill, now Mom or Dad has gotta rearrange everything to accomodate them. It gives the son/daughter some sense of control over the parents and the family. Ditto for any friends, girlfriends, or boyfriends.
Admittedly, it's better than anorexia. Look, I commend vegetarians who really in their hearts care about animal cruelty. But there's no way to tell a person's real motivations. Keep that in mind next time somebody tells you they're vegetarian - do they really care about animals, or are they consciously or subconsciously trying to manipulate others?
Like I posted in another board. animal testing: a big no-no eating animals: a big yes-yes
And besides, DrStrangeLove is right. We use tons of fertilizer to make plants grow which pollutes the earth and is bad. And to say MEAT IS EVILis way too much. You're meat to some animals, so are you evil? As for me, I eat meat and vegetables. A perfectly balanced diet. A good way to stay healthy too.
I don't care if you choose to be a vegetarian. It's your choice. But don't get mad at people who like to eat meat. They just want to survive, just like you do. They just eat meat, which isn't bad at all.
"but don't we eat the antelope?" "Yes, son, but let me explain....when we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass, so we are all part of each other..."
MWUAHAHA....sad, isn't it? but thats how i look at it. We all eat each other (more or less), so everyone's species keeps going I like to eat meat, (mostly chicken and hamburger, though).
I am vegitarian, i think it's wrong to eat animals who only want to share the earth with us, not for us to eat them. How would you like it if a cow started heating humans???
