Remember last year when 17-year-old Sarah Pitts climbed to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise money for Save the Children and the kids they help? Well, this year a NOISEmaker you might know-- AtomicSneeze--is doing the same thing! AtomicSneeze attended a YouthNOISE event in Cali. One thing lead to another and she was invited to take part in the climb! On Feb. 27, she flies to Lilongwe, Malawi and on March 6 she will travel to Tanzania to begin the 19,340-foot hike up to Africa's highest peak. What do you think--is she fearless, totally adventurous...what? Got any questions for Atomicsneeze as she stuffs her backpack to get ready for her adventure? Would you do it?

My uncle climbed Mt. Kilamanjaro for charity. It was hard, but I think he enjoyed it. Good luck! Bex

I would love to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, I've wanted to for as long as I can remember and hope to someday! I think that's a great way to raise money. Way to go, girls!

I would do it definitely although I'm not very athletic and have never climbed a mountain. I would do almost anything to help a cause( I would not kill a person!) I think what AtomicSneeze is awesome and a great experience.

Kick-@$$! Personally, I hate hiking. But it sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her. Good luck and have fun!

I'm not trying to be rude or discouraging or anything like that, but is there like a chance you might die? I was just wondering because I know like if you climd Mount Everest, theres a chance you might not come back alive, and that would really suck if it happend to you.
Any way, good luck, and Happy Birthday!

When it comes to volunteering and helping a cause, I'd do anything to help out. I'm terrified of heights.. But... Where theres a will, theres a way.

"Karibuni Africa" That is "welcome to Africa" in Swahiri.I had to use that language because Tanzania is a Swahiri speaking country and that's probably what some people will tel you as you get there.I believe you are going to enjoy the trip and allot is going to be gained.Africa is my land...Uganda in particulay and becouse I have been to Tanzania,I assure you...you will enjoy. I wish you could make a trip to Uganda too!

One of the most exciting things about traveling with Save the Children (STC) to Africa is that my group will see the STC and community-organized programs IN ACTION.
This trip is much more than a climbing a mountain. In Malawi, STC and villages are working together to create programs that focus on HIV/AIDS prevention and education (building schools, training teachers, and getting girls involved in education programs). Another cool thing about STC is that the charity has no religious affliation, so they can work with Muslim and other types of religious communities.
I'll bring lots of pictures back and I hope some will be posted on YouthNOISE.

To be quite honest, I'm still shocked that I'm going to Africa. I'm very lucky that I just happen to live in CA near the area where they needed a NOISEmakers to come to an event. I got a phone call to come to this YN breakfast meeting. So I went, sat next to a guy from Save the Children, and he introduced the possibility of me joining the trip to climb Mt. Kili. Unlikely? Yes. Really exciting? Heck yeah. I'm leaving in less than two weeks and I really can't believe it! My room is a mess. I have clothes, long underwear, my hiking boots, duffel bags, etc. lying all over the floor. I need to get packed! I'm also turning 18 on Friday! Lots to do. I'm definitely stressed out. I'm going to have tons of make up work for school too. Anyway... quote: Why don't those of us who post ever get invited to stuff? I probably wouldn't go or anything...I'm just curious.
That's actually a really good idea. It would be really cool to have NOISEmaker events where people in one area could meet each other. Hard to organize, but maybe a possibility in the future, don't you think? -AtomicSneeze

I still think their should be a sleep away camp called Camp Youth Noise. It came to me in a dream, and I met all my friends and enemys, and it was just to much fun.
But ugh... Comgradulations Atomic Sneeze.
I have nothing more to say.

It's because we can't afford plane tickets and time to go attend youthnoise events in California.
