For someone so spent on America "helping" other countries, Bush. Can you say "sweat-shops"? It's disgusting!
Even though China's minimum wage is 31 cents an hour--which doesn't begin to cover a person's basic subsistence-level needs--these production workers are paid 13 cents an hour. Workers typically live in squatter shacks, 7 feet by 7 feet, or jammed in company dorms, with more than a dozen sharing a cubicle costing $1.95 a week for rent. They pay about $5.50 a week for lousy food. They also must pay for their own medical treatment and are fired if they are too ill to work. Workers have constant headaches and nausea from paint-dust hanging in the air; the indoor temperature tops 100 degrees; protective clothing is a joke; repetitive stress disorders are rampant; and there's no training on the health hazards of handling the plastics, glue, paint thinners, and other solvents in which these workers are immersed every day.

you are right. if we didnt allow for competition between businesses one, we wouldnt get any better products also we might as well be a communist country ourselves.

For the commies who hate walmart because they represent the American Dream and are able to sell quality products at low prices, read this. The Incredible Bread Machine is a poem about the consequences of your economic policies. I know that most of you wont read it because you either cannot read or refuse to read the truth, but for those who do, that is what will happen if the libeal regulators are allowed into power. I maintain that bauhauses inconsistency on the issue of the wage market and the retail market extinguished all credibility he may have once possesed. If it is ok to push wages down but not prices on wholesale goods then you are inconsistent. I believe it is ok for both to be pushed down, I beleive in a free market. Bauhaus attacked freemarketlover on not being for a completely free market. I criticize his inconsistency in the same manner.

Richest people in 2002? It is now 2004. Get current stastics you moron..
It is the illegal immigrants breaking the laws, and Walmart. Walmart can only higher legal citizens. If they higher illegal immigrants they are cheating the American public. I never said Walmart wasn't breaking the law, but they are.

Wal-marts are dirty. I hate them. I never shopped at Wal-mart before I saw this post, because their store looks cheap, and I'd rather not be in it. Target rocks.

America was founded on immigrants. But times change. We are still founded by immigrants except now they have to register, something that has been going since the 1800 for citizenship. If you don't register, you aren't a citizen. If you aren't a citizen - you are not entitled to the privellage endowed to an American Citizen. Thus you are an illegal immigrant. I have nothing against immigrants stealing our jobs. I do have something against illegal immigrants breaking the law, hell they can be illegal sweedish immigrants and I will still have something against them.
And actually bauhaus, of the ten richest people in the world only four are Waltons...
1-William H Gates III 2-Warren E Buffett 3-Karl & Theo Albrecht 4-Paul G Allen 5-Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud 6-Lawrence J Ellison 7-Alice L Walton 8-Helen R Walton 9-Jim C Walton 10-John T Walton
You moron. Why don't you do some research before you post you racists.

Of the 10 richest people in the world, five are Waltons--the ruling family of the Wal-Mart empire. S. Robson Walton is ranked by London's "Rich List 2001" as the wealthiest human on the planet, having sacked up more than $65 billion in personal wealth and topping Bill Gates as No. 1
marine you are still an idiot... america was founded on immagrints dont get all pissed off because some lazy *** corn fed white boy doesnt want to do the work for less. If someone else is going to do the job, then they are going to get it. Marine just hates immigrants. WHITE POWER?? right marine? is that what you yell?

Walmart doesn't hire illegal immigrants, but they get penalized for higherign illegal immigrants earlier this year in Texas? How does that work.

walmart creates mroe jobs then decreases them. if a mom-n-pop store goes out of business, they can go work at walmart adn there will still be room for hundreds of more employees (supercenter)

no, everything you said is false. Putting a "mom-n-pop" store that employs 6 people out of business and creating a store that employs 250 people is not destroying jobs. you guys missed it, walmart is the reason we have so many people out of jobs. They put the little guy out, where are those people suppose to work? Walmart is getting out of control. the founder of walmart is richer then bill gates.

Wait a second bauhaus, you commie. That is how a free market works. One company will go to another and ask for a price, if it is too high, they say lower. If the other cannot meet that, then they lose the business. That is ok. It is supposed to be that way. Redrepublicans reasoning brought tears to my eyes because that is what I was thinking the whole time. They are able to sell a better product at a lower price and the liberals want to punish them for it. It is the same thing that Clinton did to microsoft. I buy everything I possibly can there to reward them. Consumers shop for prices, and whoever has the lowest gets the business. Thank God for capitalism. quote: I heard WalMart used child labour and had links to the mass dolphin/whale slaughters in Japan, so thats why I'm kinda against it, I don't really care about how they price thier items.
you heard?!?! So in other words you have no proof. That makes me sick. All you should care about is price. That is how the system works. quote: marine you are an idiot, straight up, that is the stuppist thing Ive ever heard out of you. how are they stealing jobs??? If someone will do the job for less, you're damn right Im gonna hire them over someone who wants to be paid more.
So you do agree that lower prices should be rewarded. You thin that Walmart steals business but not jobs. That is inconsistent. The wage market should be treated in the same way that the retail market is. I think you should clarify your thinking on this subject, because you no longer have credibility. wahat is wrong with walmart rakin in all the cash? if they have found a way to lower goods then let them. you people are so ignorant. it is not wlamart's fault leave them alone. do you want to know why kohls food stores went out of business? it is because they paid their employees too much money! how hard can it be to scan somthing and give the customer his reciept? not very hard. walmart is not yet a monopoly. other stores are figuring out how to sell their products at lower costs. walmart should be commended for their retail strategy. the only reason i can see why you would hate walmart is because of their supercenters which take up too much space and destroy environment.
