What makes you think this Country isn't in debt? Haven't you been paying attention to the news lately?...We had a 5 trillion dollar surplus when Clinton was in office, now we are in a 500 trillion dollar deficit, why?...Ask George Bush!...Now you still don't think were in debt? Razz Razz Razz

Greendayrocks, do you spend money wisely? Maybe you do, but I highly doubt. I'm having a hard time thinking of people who really stop and think at the mall. To a certain degree, I think too. But not anywhere near always.

I agree people serving for the government should learn how to use money wisely, but they're people, too. You think you'd be all fair and square with the rest of the world when you could use Bejamins for toilet paper? Hell no. You're going to find excuses for yourself, even though knowing that maybe, you can do without a new jet.

I have heard a lot about wastes in the government, but I doubt it was mainly created by using the money for personal needs, such as jets. I might be a tad confusing on this, sorry.

ok, we've been in debt since forever. I dunno exactly how much but if I did, i'd probably throwup! The gov't doesn't spend money conservatively like they should, they spend it on private jets for the senators and stuff like that. Who cares if it's private or not, as long as you get there, right? Our gov't sucks right now. I say we should empeach Bush!!!!

Our country is not anywhere being in debt. NYC alone is worth billions of dollars. The US finances countries all over the world. If we want money, we can get it.

Alrighty. I am very not sure of how everything works, the first reasong being is that I only started caring for politics couple of years back, and reason number two being that I do not wish to worry about this.

As far as I know, Bush cut not the income taxes, but the taxes we spend every day. OK, not WE. My rents (for all of you who get on people's backs if they make a type-o). The less people have to pay in taxes when they shop, the more they spend...SO, I do not completely understand what you meant when you said we'd be paying off the debt. There is ALWAYS debt to pay off. If our generation is gonna have to pay it off, our generation will be somewhere in the government, as well. If anyone elaborates about their opinions on the future tax payments, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Anyhow. The war has happened. We can't undo it. If there are debts, they're going to have to get paid off. It might not be fair to us, who did nothing, but will have to pay for it, but life is not fair. I do not wish to sit on my *** and watch unfairness happen, but very few people can say it and actually achieve something. Instead of complaining about it, we COULD be thinking of ways to make a difference. But NO. We're not the president, and we're too young, right?

I know there are a bunch of you reading this, and thinking potty stuff...But I'm not talking big talk or trying to use big words in order to make my self seem knowledgeable and confuse everyone. I say whatever I know, and I'm open to critizism.

I think it's funny how the states continue to plunger further and further into debt, yet the federal government won't do anything about it. And unlike the federal government, the states can't run a tab. Before long, all states will be like california and we will have rolling blackouts, and fiscal chaos, and we have the lame duck bush to thank for it.

EXACTLY! This is what people don't understand. Bush is cutting taxes NOW. That means much higher taxes for our generation when we are older.

Lol, I once saw a political cartoon which said that, just like how all the presidents are on our money, like Washington is on the quarter and Lincoln is on the penny and Andrew Johnson is on the 50$ bill, President Bush should be on the credit card.

This is a perfect example of what's wrong. First of all, the U.S. has way more debt than most others do for it's size. President Bush lowering taxes is obviously just a move to get him into office, because no one wants to pay taxes now, and don't realize that by not paying taxes now, we will just end up having to pay more in 15 years. If we do not pay taxes now, our generation, all of us on Youthnoise, will have a huge burden of debt that every U.S. President has kept putting off. Now, not only is Bush not taking care of the debt problem, BUT SPENDING A TON OF MONEY. The Republican party has spent an enormous amount of money since they have basically complete control over our government and can do whatever they want. Keep in mind that all of us on Youthnoise will be the ones to feel the impact of Bush ignoring our debt and spending money like crazy in our lifetimes.

All this will come back to bite us, (and by us i mean you reading this, anyone who's a teenager or kid right now) in the @$$.

Yes, we are in debt. Do you know who paid for the stuff President Bush has been doin, like Afghanistan, Iraq, security, etc?

WE WILL BE PAYING FOR IT. When we are older, all of us will be paying for the cost of this war. Just keep that in mind. Personally it pisses me off knowing I will be paying higher taxes in ten to twenty years in order to recover from the cost of what the Bush administration is doing now. Also, our generation will have a higher percentage of old people to take care of than previous generations have. We are the ones who will be footing the United State's debt problems, people.

We can email president bush and our local governmental officials all our views.
Trust me, they sometimes list.
SOMETIMES being the keyword but its worth a shot.
About.....10 emails a day should help move along the process.

The government deficit is well over the hundred billions spot.

Anyway,
I think the government sometimes makes bad decisions when it comes to putting people on welfare..there are definitly people out there who need the money worse than some people who are getting it.

Education....OH YEA.We need a HUGE reform in that.

Medicare...yea....

I WISH I COULD VOTE DA** IT!!!!!

That's the end of democracy. When the people realize that they can vote to give themselves money, the government fails, that's the history of all democracies.

Yay!! Lets dissolve the government!

If we want to cut spending we should also look at waste in the welfare, Social Security, Medicare, and education programs. It's not all Bush's fault, in fact, little of it is his fault. We've been amassing waste for the past couple decades.
