So you've heard of the "Running of the Bulls"...but what about the "Running of the Nudes"?

Every year in Pamplona, Spain, thousands of people from all over the world gather to watch the Running of the Bulls. This year's Running of the Bulls started July 7th and continues daily through the 14th.

Animal rights activists have been trying to put a stop to the annual event by starting a new tradition of their own -- the "Running of the Nudes", which took place this year on July 5. This new spin to an old tradition involves people stripping down to their birthday suits and running naked through the streets of Pamplona. OK, maybe not completely naked -- they weren't able to get the proper permits so most ran in their underwear.

What do you think of the "Running of the Bulls" tradition? Should it be considered cruelty to animals?

Would you cast off your clothes and run in the nude for animal rights?

now people dont usually run around in the nude.. i really don't get it..y does it have to be in a nude?? to attract attention? why not just dress up like bulls to attract attention?slowly people are trying to make nudity a normal thing.. (im so conservative sorry)

wow, thats 2 for the count. hehe

anyway, I wouldn't go so far as to call bull fights fair. If you are gonna fight a bull, then fight a damn bull. Don't cheat by kicking the crap out of it before it even knows what it is getting into. Like I said in my other post, watch the bullfight scene in Once Upon a Time in Mexico. To me, that is a fair fight. Both the bull and the matador are rigged. Smile

No man, you are arrogant.

In any case, this type of thing makes people serious about animal welfare look like a bunch of daft hippies using the movement as an excuse to prat about. The medis, such a cowardly people.

I love the running of the bulls and I think the next time the animal activists do this they should release the bulls early Wink

Despite the deck being slightly stacked in the matadors favor in bull fights there is still an very excellent chance the matador is going to end up with a horn through him so I would consider bullfighting fair game

I don't support the running of the bulls, but I sure as hell don't support running of the nudes either. What does a bunch of naked people running around have anything to do with mistreating bulls? This just gives everyone another excuse to run around nude, and we all know we have enough excuses to do that.

Oh god, the image of some old man flappin in the wind makes me wanna spew...

Oh yea, and has anyone ever seen that scene from Once Upon a Time in Mexico? Where they rig the bullfight by shocking the matador (whatever its called) and the bull ends up killing him. That is justice. I gotta find the quote from that scene...

aha! found it Smile
quote:
Agent Sands: "Bullfights. Bull hockey. Do you like this? The bull is stabbed, prodded, beaten. The bull is wounded. The bull is tired before the matador ever steps into the ring. Now, is that victory? Of course it is. Wanna know the secret to winning? Creative sportsmanship. In other words, one has to rig the game."

The running of the bulls is cruel - these bulls, after being released into the streets with hoards of screaming, manic Spaniards are then destined to be cruelly murdered in the bullring.
Are you aware that in a bull fight ( a so-called 'sport') the bull is first of all drugged then he has some kind of vaseline smeared into his eyes making his vision extremely poor and then he is forced into the bullring. Before he meets the 'brave - hahaha' matador his spinal cord is severed by the picadors...to weaken him him even further - at this point he begins to bleed to death.
Truly a torture.
In the 'RUNNING OF THE NUDES',two days before the bull running thousands of animal lovers parade down the same streets that the bulls will be let loose into...they are trying to put an end to bull running...they are as nude as they are allowed to be because this raises their profile in the media and gives the cause much needed publicity.

If YOU love animals then please NEVER support bull running or bull fighting.

Here endeth the first lesson Smile

they're not just running with each other. the running of the bull is people running IN FRONT OF stampeding bulls and trying to outrun them. if they don't, they will get trampled by the bulls. thats why its extremely dangerous. they're basically trying to outrun a stampede.

Woah. Harsh. I thought it was pretty cool myself, but I went 5 years ago, so I don't remember every last detail.

It's just my opinion, but I'm right.

Kids, here's a lesson. Never drink 3 vodkas and a tequila, wear red, and run in front of angry stampeding bulls in the same day. It's not healthy.

It's just my opinion, but I'm right.

Reminds me of the promotional bicycle race held for Queen's song "Fat Bottomed Girls". It's amazing what those Queen fellows could do-nude bicyclists all over the UK. Though it did get some bad media attention Big Grin

My spanish teacher once said that the dead bull meat goes to feed hungry children, which is a good thing for us. I do think bull fights are terribly wrong though.
