I dunno about tooth cleaning in the middle ages, I thought they didn't do that


I do know that significant deposits of Tungsten exist in portugal, and that during WWII the British and German secret services were endlessly operating in Portugal trying to get the stuff for their countries via deals etc.

Tungsten was used to strengthen tank armor
