We don't have to travel outside this fair nation to see Native American pyramids. Within the geographical center of America, the American Bottom, the civilization of Cahokia grew and prospered from 800 AD to 1400. It's cultural traits, including the construction of earthen pyramids, has influenced the entire southeastern and mississipian cultural pattern. Almost not surprisingly, though, the city fell into ruin becuase of it's own massive proportions and due to improper diets of corn and venison. It was attacked, and destroyed. No other Mississipian cultural center ever recuperated it's glory, though some others were recorded by the Spanish, until they were, not surprisingly, killed by measles and small pox. Has anyone seen these buildings, and visited the site of the city?

Oh, I read about this civilization. Just a basic understanding...but I found it fascinating. I've always thought I should get around to reading more about it. Anyways, they had an AMAZING social structure. Rather odd, in fact.
Just because nobody understands you, that doesn't mean you're artistic.

It's within the city limits of Saint Louis. That city was once known (in the 1800's) as "the Mound City" beccause of all the mouldering pyramids around it.
