Slewinca, you do realize that in the bible God constantly asked for animal sacrifices? God even describes how he wants it done. I could find it for you but I'm too lazy.

I don't think Christians should necessarily be vegetarians because God created animals for us, he told us to eat them. Of course don't abuse them, but they're nutricious...

Besides, if we didn't eat them wouldn't they become too populated? The human population keeps growing and growing, and this world isn't big enough for the both of us.

I think that anyone of any faith should be vegeatrain. I'm vegeatarain, but not because i'm chritsian, because i care about how horrible the animals are treated on factory farms and i find it cruel to kill and eat animals. I hear so many people saying things like "god put animals on earth for us to eat and dictate, ect.", its nice to hear other people saying things like " it says we should be kind to animals in the bible", because thats what I beleive is true (even though i havn't read the whole bible).

Since when have you had to believe in a specific religion to be vegan? Veganism isn't exclusive to religion. There are veg Christians, Jews, pagans, agonists, even atheists! (one of my friends is an athiest vegan BTW)
Did you know that after India, Israel has the most faith-based vegetarians in the world?

you think I'm that stupid???? please, I am informing you what I know. Being vegan has nothing to do with faith, but if you MUST be vegan by faith, turn to those religions, thats what i meant

I'm Jewish, not Christian but I feel I need to comment on the things said here. (the old testament is kind of my field Wink )

guess i kinda ruined your god loves animals post.

Not quite.
quote:
God kills some animals and makes some skin coats for Adam and Eve. 3:21

The funny thing about this verse is that it makes no mention of killing animals yet it is always assumed that it is implied. Read this: http://www.all-creatures.org/hr/hrafall.htm
quote:
"Into your hand are they (the animals) delivered." God gave the animals to humans, and they can do whatever they please with them. This verse has been used by bible believers to justify all kinds of cruelty to animals and environmental destruction. 9:2

Does God care for animals?

Proverbs 12:10 teaches, “A righteous man has regard for the life of his beast,” and Psalms 145:9 reminds us that “The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made.”

The Bible describes God’s concern for animals repeatedly (Matt. 10:29, 12:11–12, 18:12–14) and forbids cruelty (Deut. 22:10, 25:4). Importantly, after the Flood, God made a covenant, stated five times, with animals as well as humans. All creatures share in the Sabbath rest (Exod. 20:10; Deut. 5:14). The Bible describes animals praising God (Ps. 148:7–10, 150:6), shows animals present in eternity (Isa. 65:25; Rev. 5:13), and affirms that God preserves animals (Ps. 36:6; Eph. 1:10; Col. 1:20). Animals and humans look to God for sustenance (Ps. 104:27–31, 147:9; Matt. 6:26; Luke 12:6) and deliverance (Jon. 3:7–9; Rom. 8:18–23).

God gives us more instructions on killing and burning animals. I guess the first nine chapters of Leviticus wasn't enough. He says we must do this because he really likes the smell -- it is "a sweet savour unto the Lord." 23:12-14, 18

The human incarnation of God feeding animals to humans? Seems like a pretty damned solid endorsement of meat consumption to me.

And people, let's not forget the original diet that Adam and Eve and the animals had in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 1:29-30

Here are some good sites about Christianity and vegetarianism:

This is a good one too:

I hope I've clarified some things.

God kills some animals and makes some skin coats for Adam and Eve. 3:21

According to this verse, all animals fear humans. Although it is true that many do, it is also true that some do not. Sharks and grizzly bears, for example, are generally much less afraid of us than we are of them. 9:2

"Into your hand are they (the animals) delivered." God gave the animals to humans, and they can do whatever they please with them. This verse has been used by bible believers to justify all kinds of cruelty to animals and environmental destruction. 9:2
