I knoiw this will start a little war between people who think global warming exists and those who think it doesnt. here is my opinion, before you start mouthing off please look up the facts, dont say that "i watched an inconveniant truth, and know everything about global warming", and please dont say "global warming doesnt exist because it dont feel any warmer". these are both wrong points of views, to commennt on anything because you just simply dont have both sides. go onto cnn and see some reports, go onto univerity sites and read some research papers, than go out and research everything else but dont just make-up your mind on one piece of fact, because in all probibility your at best getting half the info. now i'll start. the world is warming up it has for the last 10000 years, global temputures moves in a resiprical pattern. it has been like that for the last 600 million years (check it, it's true), 70 million years ago co2 levels were twice as high as today and it didnt kill the dinosaurs (a meteor did, co2 and so2 killed the trilobites 250 million years ago acording form the univercity of briston, and that was caused by a volcanic plume) im not saying that putting tons of co2 in the atmoshere isnt warming the world, but you also cant say that what were doing is the only thing warming our planet, we have only been looking into global warming for the last 100 tears and only recongnised waht we were looking at 25 years ago. the earth has been around for over 4 billion years, unless your a creationist in which u dont belivew the dnosaurs ever existed and should be ignored but thats a differnt arguemt. but one hunderd years is a pin prick on the geologic time scale, it took us 5000 years to figure out that the earth isnt flat and everyones going bonkers over 100 years of data which still isnt entirely air thight on both sides. redusing co2 levels is undoutably a good thing but dont go crying over the fact that not everyone drives a hybrid and eats tofu, (but i do like the occational soy burger but dont spread it around). we shouldnt be making this into suck a big deal quite simply, the facts arnt quite in, and i dont think they will be here anytime soon, so relax have a sandwich, than if you have any facts to prove or dis-prove what i said, post it. thats all i have to say until my carple tunnle goes away. thanks for reading

what the heck? A new one starts up, and no one tells me? (no wonder where everyone went) Anyway, back on subject. what i'm reading is a bunch of bs from environmentalists right now. (not saying all of you are) And yes, it is true that this is one of the highest it has been, but that doesn't mean we are causing it. But also, you act like we are the only people being "attacked" by this phenomenon. As i said in the other global warming board, Mars has Blobal Warming too. you can't beat real evidence that you can see just by comparing old photographs and new photographs of mars' polar ice caps. Can't you see? the martians are causing it!

Can you be more specific? And the last time I heard about the ozone layer, it was repairing itself.
yes it is but only because there is a lot of action in order to fix it. And because it was there at all really says a lot. Also there are many studies that go back millions of years that say that there has never been a heat increase like the one were seeing. And if global warming is a lie then what about all the animals going extinct and the loss of rain forests these are but a few examples of all the things that are going wrong.

I don't know how anybody could ever say that global warming 'doesn't exist.' That's like saying the Earth doesn't exist. Global warming does exist, and how can I say that? Duh, scientific evidence. Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades. There is scientific proof that the Earth's mean temperature has increased over the years. The numbers are there. It's true. It exists. Get over it. If you want me to cite sources, sure, I will if I have to, but come on, it's like in every Earth Science textbook ever.

Good job reading the thread moron! I will say that the OP has a surprisingly balanced view of things for your average person. quote: One of the reasons I joined this place WAS to talk about global warming. So many people don't believe in it, and that's too bad. Once it starts effecting them THEN they will care. But then it'll be too late...
I'm a geologist who's studied some climate models, and I for one am anxious to see how things actually turn out. Warming could be one of the most challanging and exciting times of the human race. Lets see what happens.

Too late? So you're of the vain opinion we can "save" this earth and keep it never-changing..
