Wouldn't it make sense to put it all in rockets and send it to the sun? The sun is just a big nuclear reactor. It would give the space program something much better to do than spend $100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 to send a shuttle into space [endangering the lives of the crew] all to do a somersault!?
[I'm refering to Discovery]

i agree, they should send it to the sun. However the space crew signs a contract saying "i dont care if i die, im doing what i love" So if they die doing what they love, then its cool with them.

A remote location won't work. Global air currents would create a radiation plume that would travel for hundreds and hundreds of miles. Not to mention that proper launches can only be made from the lower latitudes, which are quite populated.

Btw, the idea of a Space Elevator is pretty smart.

Yes, but if it's launched in some isolated location, like some remote part of Australia or one of the poles. It may cost a lot to build a new station there, but with all of the stuff gone it would be worth it. If anyone can find anymore flaws with this idea, please post.

You do realize what would happen if just one of those rockets malfunctioned and exploded a few miles up don't you?

Untill we have a stable way of getting into space (Space elevator *cough*), our only solution is to bury it. Right now that's Yucca Mountain, it's not perfect, but it'll have to do for now. A better place would be Vermont or another New England state, but good luck getting the senate to support that.
