I love the outdoors, but sometimes I wonder if appreciating nature can become a form of worship. I'm a Christian. I want to make sure that I'm worship God and considering myself one of his children... not bowing down to Mother Nature. Does that make any sense? What do you think about the concept of Mother Nature? How can I appreciate nature without worshipping it?

Wow, don't know if that was directed to me, but if it was, I didn't jump into any different conclusions. I gave her a different viewpoint, that's all. And thanks, jazzey

Don't jump to conclusions, I'm agnostic. I gave her a Christian answer because she is Christian.

Wow, Celtic. I always thought of nature as a God, but I like the way you worded it. Pretty good. quote: Originally posted by CelticNewAger: Allright. You've only heard the Christian viewpoint. You're a Christian, thus I will show you another viewpoint.
Sadism's one towards this....
You are God. You are the God of yourself. You are all-powerful, able to do anything, except of course perhaps contortion and the obvious, but you may even kill if wanted (don't think I am encouraging it, though). Nature, however, is a different thing. You can't beat nature. Nature always wins, thus, nature is over God. "There is no God, Nature sufficeth unto herself; in no wise hath she need of an author. Uh... don't call it a God. Try to look at it as God's creation: to be merveled at. Rather than a totally seperate entity.

You can totally appreciate nature as a christian! When I look around at all God made it not only reminds me of how beautiful everything is, but how awesome God is. The fact that he would make everything so perect for us to enjoy. Also - that God made us supreme over everything else. That he looks at us as most important, and the most beautiful is all creation, since we were created to commune with God. Something nature can not do. The world and everything in it is just one more proof of the existance of God, and how powerful and wonderful he is.

" Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. so they worshiped the things God made but not the creator himself, who is to be praised forever. Amen " Romans 1:25 nlt " Then Jesus said to him, " Away with you, satan! For it is written, ' you shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.'" Matthew 4:10

Ive always seen "Mother Nature" as just a figure of speech.. not some obscure deity. I take in nature as a creation of God and appreciate each individual creation as they are. In my opinion, you can relate this to a child and a doodle the aforementioned child made. You admire the creation, but even moreso admire the one who made it.
But thats just my opinion.

Why did you make two of the same topic (the other under 'Spirituality')? Just curious. Thanks.

It's not a bad thing to worship nature. Don't worry, your god won't hate you for appreciating nature. I don't know what to tell you other than that.
